In our house when i was a kid. Turkey, gammon joint , celery and a box of dates. Why the second two I'll never know as nobody ate them and they were thrown in the bin. The turkey carcass was put in the garden for the birds to peck at. To this day I hate celery and turkey stew and turkey curry . [Post edited 22 Dec 2022 12:50]

From that I somehow ended up with orange matt paint results, cursing my screen and you at the same time.

When it all calmed down, Mum would get a snowball (advocat and lemonade?) and the old man a cigar.
As sprogs, we'd get to fight over the matchmakers and of course the quality street. Purple ones were reserved for my Dad

When I was a kid we also had boxes of dates at Christmas. As far as I remember it was only my father who ever ate them. Similarly, boxes of Turkish Delight used to appear as well - which I hated then and still do. | | | |

Not a food as such - but some fairly disgusting liquor chocolates were an Xmas staple at our house. And those of a certain age will remember tangerines wrapped individually in paper was an Xmas treat in the stocking. | |
