This is the whole point of the academy system, the closed shop that is cat 1, the EPPP with England etc. Allowing academy teams in cups. etc etc

Ensure that the gap gets bigger. Hoover up all the talent to make sure they never have to pay big fees to lesser clubs,. and can then make profit on selling them further down the line if they arent quite up to it.

Deprives the smaller clubs of the joy of having a genuine special talent come through (except as a loanee which isnt really the same thrill). Eating away at the heart of the game.
