I'm not saying that there wasn't a serious issue for the player here, but couldn't get past the idea that teams need/have a sleeping coach... who's ours?

McCarthy used to put the whole stadium to sleep.

A good nights sleep is a major part of the recovery process, little things like taking your own pillow for nights away have been done in other sports for many years and is not new. Much is obvious but the need and benefit of a good nights sleep means this is more important than it at first seems.

When the rowing 8s won gold at the olympics, sleep was one of the factors they considered may give them that extra yard.
As rowers are traditionally very tall, the support team ensured they had oversized beds so they could sleep more comfortably.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

In cycling it came as part of Sir Dave Brailsford's marginal gains when he joined British Cycling in 1998, it may have been in football for years but not widely known or talked about.

The amount of nights footballers spend in hotels before away games, it would be a serious dereliction of duty on behalf of clubs if they aren't providing a consistent sleeping environment. Brailsford didn't just do pillows - Team Sky had mattresses, pillows, duvets, and portable AC/purifier units. No reason why a PL club can't do the same.

Was it Swansea a few years back under Rogers, who had sleep pods at the training ground, so in between double sessions it was nap time?
