Ipswich's Search For a Goalscorer Won’t Involve Chelsea Youngster

The 2024/25 campaign was a tough one for Ipswich Town as the Blues tried to adjust to life back in the Premier League. Ultimately, it did not work out well for manager Kieran McKenna as his side finished the season in 19th place in the table with only four wins and dropped back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

Town did win a lot of neutral fans over though with their performances and the approach that they took to the division’s many challenges, but despite relegation and the greater than expected squad changes, a return to the Championship for 2025/26 is looking very much on the cards as the club continues to grow and attempt to consolidate its recent uplift.

Twenty-six games into the second-tier campaign, the Blues have picked up 12 wins and eight draws and sit on 44 points, two points shy of the runners-up spot and only eight points from top spot but with a game in hand on both leaders Coventry and Middlesbrough.

After last season's disappointment, many fans will wonder if Town are again about to win big at a Bet panda Casino as every Portman Road regular knows that turning a few more draws into wins, then the Blues really could enjoy another remarkable season with good promotion prospects.

The New Year is obviously with us and the January transfer window has been open for a couple of weeks now, but Ipswich fans are still waiting for a fresh face to come in this month to bolster the squad.
The club has a decision to make as the Blues are doing well and sometimes you do not want to upset the apple cart by making too many new additions, but equally pushing the boat out a little now could give more of a guarantee of a return to the top flight at the first time of asking - as long as they bring in the right player or players.

We already know the club is looking to be active in the market before deadline day hits and the window slams shut, manager Kieran McKenna having recently spoken about the potential loan exits of defender Elkan Baggott and midfielder Fin Barbrook.
It is a little bit left field, but reports have continued to circulate on the speculation rumour mill that the Blues hold a serious interest in young Chelsea attacker Kendry Paez.

The 18-year-old forward already has 23 caps for Ecuador at international level and he has spent this season out on loan with Strasbourg - Chelsea's sister club.
He has made 20 appearances in total across all competitions, scoring once, but he has only made seven starts and it appears that the South American media is convinced that he will be recalled and loaned out to Town for the second half of the campaign.

Some reports have suggested his move to Portman Road is imminent, however, as TWTD and others have reported, the Blues have no interest in Paez.
Town do have an interest in bolstering their offensive ranks, with Patrick Bamford opting to stay in the North with Sheffield United having held talks, while Callum Wilson now seems likely to remain with West Ham despite having held talks regarding his exit.
