Wilnis: I Was Rusty
Wilnis: I Was Rusty
Thursday, 19th Oct 2006 13:22

Full-back Fabian Wilnis took responsibility for two of the three second half goals Town conceded against Preston on Tuesday and blamed rustiness after spending the previous games sat in the stand.

Wilnis says he feels his recent lack of involvement contributed to his errors: “Players need to know where they stand.

“I was in the stand for two games and then brought back into the first team. I had not played since the Coventry game five weeks ago and was bound to be a little rusty.

“Last season I was voted player of the year with the manager picking me consistently. He showed faith in me and this boosted my confidence.

“I know that I have not become a bad player overnight and know that I can still hold my own in the team."

Coach Steve Foley says that the Town management staff have been forced to chop and change due to fluctuations in player form: “We have not been able to field a settled side because players have been inconsistent.

“They have done well for one or two games and then fell away.

“We will be working hard on the training ground to find the consistency we need from players to enable us to keep the team as settled as possible."
