Wright Completes Move

New right-back David Wright has completed his move from Wigan Athletic and was paraded at a Portman Road press conference late on Thursday afternoon. The Blues and the Latics have agreed an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £200,000 for the 26-year-old.

Wright told the club site he is determined to help Town into the Premiership: "If I was leaving Wigan it was important to me that I joined a club which matched my ambitions.

"Having played against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United over the last two years, the Premiership is the place to be and the determination to get Ipswich there came through when I spoke to Jim.

"It's clear that the manager is very ambitious. He wants Ipswich Town to be back in the Premiership and that is exactly what I wanted to hear, so it didn't take long for him to persuade me this is the right club for me.

"I have played against Ipswich a few times for Crewe and Wigan and know what the club is all about. There are certainly similarities between Crewe and Ipswich, with both teams always looking to play football. When the two clubs met, it was a game of 'pure' football."

Wright, who has signed a deal until June 2010, consulted former Town loanee Mike Pollitt before making his move to Portman Road. Pollitt joined Burnley on loan from Wigan earlier today.
