Wright Out of Cup Tie
Wright Out of Cup Tie

New Town signing David Wright will not be available for Tuesday's third round FA Cup tie at home to Chester City. However, the former Wigan man would be able to play for the Blues if they reach round four and face Swansea City at Portman Road.

Wright was an unused sub for the Latics in their third round defeat at Portsmouth last week and is not cup-tied, but players must have been eligible for the initial game in order to be fielded in a replay.

Section 10 (f) of the Rules of the FA Challenge Cup Competition states: “All players must have been eligible to play in the original tie in order to play in a replayed or postponed match.”

While clause (g) of the same section says: “A substitute who does not play in a match is entitled to play for another club in the competition in the same season.”
