Bent Fee £15m
Bent Fee £15m

Charlton are reported to have slapped a £15 million price tag on former Town striker Darren Bent. The Blues' summer transfer fund would be boosted by £2.48 million if the Addicks manage to secure a fee at that level for Bent, who is being linked with West Ham, Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal.

Town are due 20% of anything Charlton receive above the £2.6 million they have so far paid for the frontman. The Blues could also receive another £400,000 with £200,000 due after each of Bent's first two competitive appearances for England.

Earlier in the week, Spurs and West Ham were reported to be ready to lodge bids of £10 million and £12 million respectively, with Martin Jol's club understood to be heading the chase for the 23-year-old, along with Everton. Arsenal are also believed to have watched Bent in action during the final few games of the season.

Former Town skipper Matt Holland is set to sign a new one-year deal at Charlton, but another ex-Blue, defender Hermann Hreidarsson, is understood to have a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave the Valley now that the Addicks have been relegated, despite his deal ending in 2009.

Elsewhere, Titus Bramble has been released by new Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce. This morning's newspapers linked Bramble with a move to Birmingham City, although Portsmouth are understood to be the favourites for the former England U21 international's signature.
