Spurs Make Late Bent Bid
Spurs Make Late Bent Bid

Tottenham have made a late bid to snatch former Town striker Darren Bent away from West Ham. Spurs are reported to have made Charlton an undisclosed offer for the striker, who last night seemed set for a £17 million move to Upton Park.

Martin Jol's club have been one of the sides constantly mentioned in connection with Bent all summer and had an earlier £8 million turned down by the Hammers.

The further interest in Bent is good news for the Blues, who stand to gain 20% of the profit Charlton make on the £2.6 million they paid the Blues for the England frontman. West Ham's £17 million offer (£16 million in cash plus the £1 million-rated Hayden Mullins) would net Town £2.88 million.
