Blackburn chairman John Williams has confirmed he held talks with his Town opposition number David Sheepshanks over the weekend as the Blues continue their bid to land Franny Jeffers. Town made a third offer — understood to be in the region of £850,000 plus add-ons — at the end of last week.

Williams says the next couple of days are make or break: "I have had dialogue with David Sheepshanks and the Ipswich chief executive over the weekend and we will see what tomorrow brings.

"But if we can't make an agreement in the next couple of days then we may have to agree to disagree."

Jeffers is Jim Magilton's number one summer transfer target, while former Blue Pablo Couñago, released Middlesbrough frontman Malcolm Christie — currently in talks with Stoke — and Coventry's Dele Adebola have also been linked.
