No Break for Williams
No Break for Williams

Midfielder Gavin Williams could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury during Sunday's victory over Panathinaikos. An X-ray has ruled out a broken bone but the Welshman has sustained damage to ligaments.

New first team physio Matt Byard told the club site: "The X-ray showed no bone injury to Gavin's left ankle, but he has ligament damage.

"The ankle is very swollen and he will have a MRI scan later this week as soon as the swelling settles down.

"The result of the MRI scan will give us a much clearer idea of what the injury is and how long he will be out for."

Williams had only just returned to action after missing most of the second half of last season and the early pre-season games due to an ongoing pelvic problem.

Striker-turned-midfielder Jon Walters came off at half-time during Sunday's game as he was feeling unwell.

Meanwhile, a number of ex-Town stars are also facing lay-offs. Charlton's Matt Holland will be out of action for six weeks as he needs a cartilage operation, while former loanee Simon Walton sustained a suspected broken leg while playing for new club QPR on Friday.
