Boss Jim Magilton has called on his players to be "competitive but fair" as the Blues seek to reduce their haul of yellow and red cards this season.

On Monday TWTD reported that the FA had written to the club warning them about their on-field discipline last season.

During 2006/07 the Blues picked up 104 yellow cards, the fifth worst in the Championship, and seven red, the fourth most in the division.

Magilton told the club site that his side's conduct improved in the second half of last season: "We spoke about picking up silly bookings after Christmas last season and there has definitely been an improvement and we will continue to improve.

"You have to retain aggression in your game, but it must be in a controlled manner. You can't afford to be rash. I want us to be competitive but fair."

So far in first team games during 2007/08 Town have received one red card (Wilnis) and six yellows (Clarke, Harding, Alexander, Bruce, Miller and Couñago).
