Trialist News Thursday, 15th Mar 2001 15:33 It is being reported that Town are to give a trial to Heerenveen youngster Marc Van Eijk. The Dutch club are another team that Town have forged links with recently and this may just be a trial to give the player experience rather than Town looking to bring in the player. Van Eijk is 19-years-old and plays up front. His manager, the impressively named Foppe de Haan, is unlikely to let go of a player who is contracted to his club until the end of 2005. Meanwhile Giffarna Sundsvall are now saying that Per Nilsson will not be having a trial at Portman Road after all. Although having said that, Town have denied his trial once prior to George Burley's confirmation and Giffarna have also not been entirely consistent on the situation. We await the next change of mind. John Scales has commented on the trial last week of Falkirk's Mark Kerr. The ex-Spurs man was impressed with the 19-year-old Scot: "He looks very good. He’s a very sharp guy and a great finisher. I’ve been very impressed with him." Scales was writing in his latest TWTD column which you can find here: http://www.twtd.co.uk/scales class="storytext"> Photo: Action Images
