On-loan midfielder Matt Richards says he may consider joining Brighton and Hove Albion on a permanent basis. Last week, the 22-year-old extended his loan at the Withdean Stadium for a further month.

Richards said: "I want to play for Ipswich first of all, but I am really happy to be here and I wouldn't have a problem with signing. It's a great set-up and great coaches and I've really got on well with the lads.

"It will be very nice to stay here for another month. I have really enjoyed my time here so far, being out on the pitch on a Saturday and playing games.”

Meanwhile, Town have paid Chester City a five-figure top-up on the deal which brought Jon Walters to Portman Road from the Deva Stadium in January. Walters recently made his 20th appearance for the Blues, triggering the payment.

Town paid Chester an initial £100,000 for Walters with another £100,000 due via clauses relating to appearances and senior Republic of Ireland caps.

Elsewhere, former Town striker Darryl Knights has joined Cambridge United on loan from Yeovil. The move will allow the 19-year-old to get games under his belt and also be closer to brother Kyle, who is currently in Ipswich Hospital after a road accident.
