Jim: No Wholesale Changes
Jim: No Wholesale Changes

Boss Jim Magilton says he will not be making wholesale changes to his squad in January, despite having Marcus Evans's money to spend. The Town manager will have a significant war chest when the transfer window opens with the takeover set to be confirmed today, subject to shareholder approval.

The Evans deal will inject £12 million into the Blues' coffers, but Magilton says he will not change his approach to the transfer market: “I have been looking to bring in players since my first day here in charge.

“There are positions where we are looking - and the takeover makes no difference to this.

“There has not been a single day when my players have not given me their best - in training and in games. There will not be wholesale signings.”

Magilton is understood to be targeting two or three additions to his squad with Hibernian central defender Rob Jones believed to be near the top of his wish-list.

Plymouth's David Norris was a target in the summer, while West Brom's Richard Chaplow and former Blue Darren Ambrose, now with Charlton, were also both recently linked.

The Town manager may also be considering adding a full-back to his squad with experienced options currently low, while another striker may also be seen as a priority.
