Plymouth are reported to have rejected Town's latest bid for midfielder David Norris. The Blues are understood to have offered £1.75 million rising to £2 million with add-ons.

Yesterday morning, Plymouth announced that they had turned down Norris's transfer request, a decision which is said to have “disappointed” the 26-year-old.

Town will now have to decide whether to up their offer nearer to the £2 million initial fee apparently wanted by the Pilgrims or look elsewhere.

The Blues are expected to complete the signing of Alan Quinn from Sheffield United today with the fee now widely reported to be £400,000. Quinn made his first appearance in a Town shirt in Monday's 12-1 reserves victory over the MK Dons.

This morning's tabloids are linking West Ham United with Town youngster Sammy Moore. The 20-year-old returned from a loan spell at Brentford earlier in the month and has also been interesting Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

As reported on Monday, West Ham were represented at Playford Road on Monday as Moore scored from 20 yards during the reserves' romp.

Meanwhile, Coventry boss Iain Dowie has denied that Town have made a bid for striker Leon Best. However, Best is expected to leave the Ricoh Arena during the transfer window with Nottingham Forest his expected destination.

In Scotland, Dundee United are reported to have turned down bids from two Championship clubs for midfielder Barry Robson. One was Burnley, who are said to have offered £700,000, while the Blues are claimed to be the other, offering slightly less.

Terrors chairman Eddie Thompson confirmed the offers but not the identities of the teams involved: "We've had offers from two English clubs in the last 24 hours. Neither match our valuation and they have both been told in the nicest possible way to go away and rethink."

Last week, Town boss Jim Magilton denied any interest in Robson, who has been linked with innumerable clubs in England and Scotland, but the Blues have been represented at several Dundee United games in recent weeks.
