New Sponsor for Town
New Sponsor for Town
Wednesday, 4th Apr 2001 13:11

A report in Marketing Week claims that Town are set to end their links with Greene King at the end of the season and are after a new £2.5 million sponsorship deal covering three seasons. The new deal reportedly covers shirts and the Academy with the renaming of Portman Road after the sponsor also mooted. This not likely to prove popular amongst fans.

The Greene King association has lasted since the 95/96 season and has been worth £600,000. Given Town's Premiership status and the possibility of European football next season it seems likely that Greene King may have been priced out of the market. Favourites to be the new sponsor are NTL, BT and National Power.

The decision over the new sponsor may put back the release of the new kit, planned for May 26th.

Today's edition of Jimmy Hill's Last Word programme, which features Marcus Stewart, goes out on Sky Sports 3 and not Sky Sports 1 as previously advertised. The programme starts at 6.30pm.
