Loanee Smith and Wolves Eyeing Play-Offs
Loanee Smith and Wolves Eyeing Play-Offs

Town fans will be closely watching events at Molineux this evening as Wolves, two places and two points behind the Blues, face Cardiff City in their game in hand. Meanwhile, Tommy Smith is in action for loan club Stevenage Borough as they eye a play-off place in the Blue Square Premier.

A Wolves victory over the Bluebirds, who still have an outside mathematical chance of the play-offs themselves if they win this evening, would be a blow to Town's chances of making the top six.

Smith's Stevenage dropped to sixth, one place out of the Blue Square Premier play-off positions, over the weekend after losing at Burton Albion. This evening they face strugglers Northwich Victoria at Broadhall Way in their penultimate game.

Fifth-placed Exeter have a home match with already-relegated Stafford Rangers, but Cambridge United in fourth and Burton in third are both still catchable as long as Boro win this evening and other results go their way.

Smith joined Stevenage on loan in February and has impressed during the 13 games he has started since making the move. The England U18 international was recently close to a recall to Town after Alex Bruce suffered an injury in the 2-1 derby victory over Norwich, but after the Irish international recovered and Smith stayed with Peter Taylor's club. The 18-year-old is due to remain at Broadhall Way until the end of the season.
