Coventry Bid for Carlisle's Westwood

Coventry City are reported to have made a second bid for Carlisle keeper Keiren Westwood, also claimed to be a Blues target, on what is generally a quiet day for Town transfer gossip.

The Sky Blues are believed to have made an initial offer of £400,000 for the 23-year-old earlier in the week and are now said to have increased that figure. Town, Watford, Birmingham and Wolves have all been linked with Westwood, who was called into the Irish squad at the end of the season, but Coventry now appear to be the frontrunners for his signature.

Town are on the lookout for at least one keeper this summer with innumerable stoppers linked including Westwood, former Blue Richard Wright, Fulham keepers Kasey Keller and Antti Niemi, recently released Aston Villa stopper Thomas Sørensen, Liverpool youngster David Martin and Linfield's Alan Mannus.

Elsewhere, former Blues Darren and Marcus Bent are being linked with moves to Sunderland and Hull City respectively, while Bobby Petta has signed for Australian State League club Parra Hills Knights, having been released by A-League side Adelaide United at the end of the season.

The Dutchman, 33, is hoping to impress other A-League teams by playing for his new club through the summer.
