Jim: Thatcher Will Bring Experience
Jim: Thatcher Will Bring Experience
Thursday, 14th Aug 2008 16:59

Boss Jim Magilton says new signing Ben Thatcher will add experience and steel to his Town side.

The likes of Jason De Vos, Fabian Wilnis and Sylvain Legwinski left the club over the summer and Magilton hopes the additions of Thatcher and Iván Campo will help address the situation: "We lost that experience last year and Ben will help us in the dressing room and with the youngsters.

"Ben has played in top quality sides and has Premier League experience. He has already travelled with us and the lads got to know him a bit when he came with us in Belfast.

"Just adding that sort of experience helps bring the sort of composure you need.”

Magilton says he is unconcerned by the suspended 15-game ban relating to the incident involving Pedro Mendes during his time with Manchester City: "Ben has had that hanging over his head for the past couple of years, so it doesn't bother me.”

The suspended ban is up at the end of the month.
