Lisbie: It Was My Goal
Lisbie: It Was My Goal
Monday, 18th Aug 2008 08:50

Striker Kevin Lisbie is claiming the Blues' second goal at Burnley, despite suggestions that Burnley defender Graham Alexander got the final touch.

Lisbie says Alexander caught the ball at the same time as he did: "It was my goal – I'm definitely claiming it.

"I remember the ball coming in from the right and my header was blocked. I was about to hit the rebound but we both made contact with the ball at the same time and luckily it went in.

"Maybe it's one for the dubious goals committee, but I'm a striker and I always want to score, so for now I'm claiming it.”

Fortunately for Lisbie, there is no dubious goals committee in the Football League and it is down to the club to decide who scores their goals.

Meanwhile, weekend Scottish reports of Town's interest in Celtic striker Chris Killen have been picked up by the local press, who claim the Blues have already spoken to the former Manchester City and Hibs man's agent.

Killen is said to be available for around £500,000, although the reports which broke the story over the weekend priced the New Zealander at £750,000. Town's interest in Killen, if confirmed, may suggest Town's move to sign Shola Ameobi has not progressed.

On Saturday, boss Jim Magilton confirmed Friday's reports of an offer having been accepted for Fulham full-back Moritz Volz, but says the widely reported fee of £500,000 is incorrect: "It is not for £500,000 but we have had a bid accepted.”

Various national newspapers report that Volz is set to start talks with Town later today.

Earlier last week, former Newcastle man Stephen Carr, another right-back, was linked with the Blues, but the Irishman now seems set for Wigan Athletic.

Town's targeting of right-backs suggests David Wright's ankle ligament injury may keep him out of action for a while, although full-back is in any case an area where the Blues currently lack experienced cover.
