Defender Chris Casement won his ninth Northern Ireland U21 cap last night as his side lost 1-0 to Poland in the opening game at the VII International Valeriy Lobanovskiy Memorial tournament in Ukraine.

The Northern Irish youngsters take on the hosts in the third-place play-off later today as they prepare for a European U21 Championship qualifier in Germany on September 5th.

Town skipper Gareth McAuley is set for first team action with Northern Ireland this evening when they face Scotland in a friendly at Hampden Park (Sky Sports One, 7.45pm). McAuley will be looking for his 11th cap.

Midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski is with the Macedonian squad which plays a friendly in Luxembourg this evening. The 27-old has won 48 full caps and has scored one goal.

Defender Alex Bruce is with the Republic of Ireland side in Oslo for their friendly with Norway and will be looking to win his second full cap.

Northern Ireland U21s: Carson, Flynn, Casement, Cathcart (McMenamin 46), Lafferty, Chapman, Evans (O'Kane 72), F. Lowry, Little, McClean (McKay 90), J. Lawrie (McQuoid 46).
