Town have confirmed that striker Paul Murphy is still back in Ireland, having failed to return after the Christmas break. The 17-year-old, who signed a professional contract until 2010 in July last year, is suffering with homesickness.

A club spokesman said: "Paul was given two weeks off with the rest of the academy scholars at Christmas. At the moment, he is still back in Ireland and is suffering with homesickness. It happens sometimes with young players and the academy staff are staying in constant touch with Paul and his family.”

Murphy, who has previously played with Wexford Albion, Home Farm and Crumlin United, has played international football at several levels and is currently a regular in Ireland's U19s.
