Sunday, 8th Feb 2009 09:02

Town chairman David Sheepshanks is reported to have withdrawn from the interview process for the job of FA chief executive. Sheepshanks, a member of the FA board which is charged with choosing a successor to Brian Barwick, was believed to have been on the shortlist for the role.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry, former Arsenal managing director Keith Edelman, Heather Rabbatts, the executive deputy chairman of Millwall, and Norwich chief executive Neil Doncaster are all still believed to be in the running.

While Sheepshanks is yet to comment, it's reported that FA politics may have contributed to his withdrawal.

The FA board make their final selection at a meeting on February 26th.
