Cambridge United boss Gary Brabin says he would be delighted to sign released on loan Town midfielder Jai Reason on a permanent basis, but will not be making any final decisions until after Sunday's Blue Square Premier play-off final.

Brabin's side face Torquay United at Wembley for a place in League Two.

Reason has been hugely impressive since joining the U's in February and Brabin says he would like to see him playing for him in the Football League next year: "I think Jai has done brilliantly for us. He's a young lad and he has really enjoyed himself here and we'd be delighted to have him next season in League Two.

"We've spoken to all the players as a group and told them we won't be talking about contracts until after Sunday.”

Reason, 19, was one of seven out-of-contract players released by the Blues a week ago.

Meanwhile, it's claimed that striker Billy Clarke would turn down a move to Norwich in favour of a return to Brentford if both clubs were to offer him deals this summer.

Clarke, who was also released last week, was linked with a move to the newly relegated League One club yesterday.

The Irish U21 international frontman is currently away with the League Two-winning Brentford squad with whom he spent the final two months of the season, scoring six goals in eight games.

Elsewhere, former Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos could join Mexican club CF América in the summer, according to reports in his home country.
