Sunderland Pair and Liverpool Striker Linked Again

Sunderland's Paul McShane and Daryl Murphy and Liverpool's David Ngog are all again linked on what seems to be a quiet Sunday for Town tabloid gossip.

McShane and Murphy have been reported to be targets of their former boss Roy Keane on a number of previous occasions this summer, although earlier this week were claimed to want to stay at Sunderland to see whether they could make themselves part of new manager Steve Bruce's plans.

Hull City are also said to be very interested in McShane, who spent time on loan at the KC Stadium last season.

French striker Ngog is once more reported to be a loan target, having been claimed to be the reason for Town head of football development Bryan Klug's trip to the Toulon tournament earlier in the week.

Ngog, 20, was in and out of the French side during the competition and the 6ft 2in tall former Paris Saint-Germain frontman failed to score other than in a semi-final penalty shoot-out against Argentina.

France lost to Chile in the final with reports in the South American nation's media claiming Town are interested in their striker Eduardo Vargas.

Meanwhile, fortnight old quotes from released Leicester defender Patrick Kisnorbo are being re-run as the Australian continues to be linked with a move to Portman Road.

Elsewhere, West Brom and Celtic have agreed a £2 million compensation deal which should see Tony Mowbray named the manager at Parkhead in the next few days with his former Town central defensive partner Mark Venus and ex-Norwich boss Peter Grant as his assistants.
