Clegg: No Signings Imminent
Clegg: No Signings Imminent

Chief executive Simon Clegg says the Blues are still a little way off making their first signing of the summer, despite the club being linked with innumerable players since he and manager Roy Keane took over at Portman Road in April.

Clegg said: "Discussions are ongoing between myself, Roy and Marcus, but there is nothing specific at this moment in time.

"There is a possibility with players coming back in a couple of weeks' time for pre-season, but conversely if it takes longer than that, then so be it.

"The purchasing club is not necessarily wholly in control of the timetable of such complicated negotiations when you're dealing potentially with transfer fees with clubs and personal terms with players.”

Clegg says the Blues are not currently in talks with any players from outside the UK, although he admits that that could quickly change.

New manager Keane said at the end of the season that he wanted to add three or four signings to the existing squad which he is generally happy with, but Clegg says one or two current players could be sold and he has already received some interest: "Enquiries happen all the time. I was even approached about a player in the swimming pool at the chairmen's conference in Portugal.”

Meanwhile, winger Reggie Lambe is with the Bermuda U23 squad who play Crystal Palace Baltimore in a friendly later today.
