Priskin Bid Rejected
Priskin Bid Rejected
Tuesday, 4th Aug 2009 20:29

Watford have confirmed that they have rejected a bid for striker Tamás Priskin from a Championship club believed to be Town.

The offer, said to be £1.2 million, doesn't match the Hornets' valuation and the Blues will have to increase their bid if they are to sign the Hungarian international.

Earlier today, Priskin's agent József Vörösbaranyi said that he thought a deal would be struck between the two clubs with the player keen on the move.

TWTD first broke the news of Town's interest in the 22-year-old frontman last Thursday.

this seems to be a recurring theme, either pay up or don't bother even mentioning that we are after someone,we seem to have sold players quickly enough without rejecting the other clubs offers.

What a load of rubbish, how can u reject 1.2 million for a player that can score only a hand full of goals a seaob, me thinks watford know we have money so they are gonna try and get even more from us, hpefully keane will realise he is making a bad decision bidding higher !!!

This boy can score goals. Remember players in poor sides dont get the service.
Worth a go. His 'you tube' coverage looks really good. Worth an extra few quid I'm sure.

I wonder how much Huddersfield will sell that Jordan Rhodes fella for?

Why do people keep going on about seeing that YouTube clip of him, all them clips are probs two years old and are only his best bits ( if there are any), proper armchair supporters !!

Only have the youtube footage and my own recollections from last season to go on, however I can't help thinking that a few extra quid here could bring rewards.
Have a feeling it could be a good investment.

Just when you get your hopes up! Watford are probably eyeing a larger part of the £5m we reportedly have and know there are days until the start of the season. We can't afford to panic.

Thomas Priskin is a decent championship who would not score more than 10 goals all season lets get that clear. Not worth 1million let only 2 million we need a striker who has a proven goalscoring record at this level of which Priskin doesnt.

Firstly the youtube clip was titled 08-09 season so it was all last season highlights. He played in a average side last year and still managed to score a fair amount of goals. I think he's a good player who could proof to have a bright career, However, I don't want to see us being mugged off over this deal and reckon 1.5m is a fair price, 2m Is probably too much. But who else is out there and realistically willing to come here?

I keep forgetting we can sign anyone we want!

Go on Roy get Torres or Rooney. We're loaded.

I could have predicted that the 1st bid would be rejected as how often is the first one accepted. I personally do not believe Priskin is worth more than £1M so if we have offered that I'd forget it now. I hope that no other offer goes in from anyone as it is clear that Watford are struggling for money and it would serve them right if they get far less as the end of his contract approaches. As I have said before I think we will play only one up front away from home so no need to panic just yet although not sure Stead is up to it as a lone striker.

would have got him for 1M at the start of the window, add another 1M at this late stage - still, get him, the missing piece...

Glad to see Stow you have an inside track on Roy's tactics.

Why not wait until the Coventry game when I'm sure all will be unvailed.

Its obv becasue they know we have money ! so there doing what every club do reject the first bid , like when we wanted David Norris for example they rejected first bid or 2 then they got what 2 mill out of us. Watford are doing excatly the same.

I think we should increase the bid to 1.5 mill. This lad is 22 years old and is a goalscorer he still has lots of years to go of his carrer and is only guna get better. Think we should deffo go to at least 1.5 for him

I would rather we had bid for Ched Evans, who went for 1.5 million to start with rising to 3mill based on performance etc.

Evans or Priskin ? happy with both but would have made sense to go for Evans back when he was available. They same kinda money on this Priskin doesnt make sense unless we are running out of options. Which we are.

Well done Keano

I no, Why dont we buy some youngsters. We havent got many of them floating about the squad atm have we.

Come on Keane, Lets get a prolific goalscorer

Abbott31 added 20:17 - Aug 4
agree with joshm0449 we need a prlfic goalscorer, we already have stead, pablo, walters at a push so that leaves us with only two out and out strikers who are not that prolfic. We also have wickham and reggie lambe both good prospects but not proven. So its not rockett science what we need. And on priskin again another youngster who has not done it at watford for over 2years so why are we looking at him?

asamink added 20:25 - Aug 4
I'm getting bored of this. £1.2m will not buy a 20 goal a season player, but what I know of this guy is that he is a good solid player that could do a job. That is what you get for around a million.

Looks like we'd be better off dipping into the loans market, see if we can pick up a striker from a Prem or euro club for a six month or season long. Clubs seem to be overpricing players when we (or any of the CCC clubs thought to have a bit of money) make an offer, we should not panic buy and pay over the odds.

GeorgiDoundarov added 20:36 - Aug 4
This is nonsence - 1.2M is a lot of money and Priskin is an average Championchip player. For me he should cost not more than 750K. I am sure David Healy will come for 1M for sure and he is the hell better player!

We havent even got him yet and people are slagging the boy off.
I would love to know on what facts they have based this on because i for one have only seen him play twice and thought he did ok,perhaps a large percentage of posters on this forum travel to watford every other week to watch him play!
People keep harping on about a striker whos gonner get 20+ goals.....from where!
and if they are out there banging in 20+ for the last couple of seasons do you think the clubs are going to sell.
we brought a Sam Parkin a few seasons ago who had an incredible record and look what happened to him.
Last season only 3 players reached 20+ goals in the championship
ebanks-blake.....scotland....mcCormack
we have not a chance with any of them so we can only go lower league or get a fatcat from the premiership who,s not playing regular footy, but who?And for what cost!
Whoever Keane buy i,m sure will be a success 14-18 goals will be a top reward for any striker...remember we still have Martin,Walters,(pos pablo) and Stead to chip in.
60 to 75 goals this season will take us into the top slots. so please have a little patience and give whoever we may buy a chance to shine.
