Shumulikoski Completes Preston Move
Shumulikoski Completes Preston Move
Tuesday, 4th Aug 2009 20:45

Midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski has completed his move to Preston North End for a fee believed to be in the region of £400,000. TWTD revealed that the Blues and Lilywhites had agreed a deal last Thursday with the Macedonian having been in talks regarding the move in the days since.

Boss Roy Keane told the club site: "We accepted a bid for Shumi and he goes to Preston with our best wishes."

Shumulikoski says he is delighted to join Preston, who tried to sign him on loan late last season: "I am very happy to be here at this brilliant club, with a brilliant manager and staff. I wanted to come here before, but we had complications but now I am here.

"I am a defensive midfielder and I will give everything for my new manager. We have a long season ahead and hopefully I can work hard in many of those games."

The Macedonian joined the Blues from Turkish side Bursaspor in January 2008 for a fee of £500,000, signing a contract until June 2010. Shumulikoski made 33 starts and 10 sub appearances for Town, scoring once.

I'm glad this deal is done as he never really was good enough to take us on a level. We need players to take us forwards, starting with a goal scorer!

Cheers Shumi...shame you never lived up to your billing. I'd like to see you succeed at Preston, except when you face the Town.

Good luck Shumi I think you will fit in well at Preston. That Club are a fine example of what can be achieved without spending and wasting stupid sums of money like a certain Manager we once had.

Real pity, I think. But he clearly wanted to leave, so it's alright really. I do wish it had worked out though - Shumi looked classy at times and I'm sure he'd have done well for us. Good luck!

Not a bad player, just not a great player. I am still concerned that we have sold and released too many players without replacing them!

I wish Shumi well, and think he'll fit in well at Preston. Whether or not he fell out with Jim, he wasn't getting games, as a result his form dipped and he wasn't at full fitness when RK was running the rule over everyone. I think he may have struggled to get regular first-team had he stayed, so though i'm sorry to see him leave it's probably in his best interests.

****. Now there's only Pablo and Civelli left of my absolute favourites.
A shame he wasn't played regularly as he would have been very good then.

Excellent news. Roy continues to deal with the complete mess left by one Jim Magilton (a manger who now admits the Ipswich squad he left is not very good - despite signing most of the players).

Well done Roy.

I hope there are not as many morons for supporters at Preston that we have at Ipswich. Good luck to you Shumi, hope you lose the arrogance when things don't go right for you.

had hoped RK would bring out the best of Shumi that didn't happen under JM not really giving him a decent run . always thought he looked useful , but wonder if there was an attitude problem.

I back RK's judgement , but concerned that we are not adding quality ......whatever happened to the £5m we were ready to spend ??

Good luck for the future Shumi. I thought generally speaking you were a fair signing and feel it was unfortunate that things didn't quite work out for you here.

Shame about Shumi, nearly everyone agrees he didn't hit the heights here, wish him well even though he was an arrogant sod last season!

Think RK will add to the squad, I believe we have the squad and the right manager to get us up when the additions have been made.

Good luck Shumi, shame it never really worked out.

We've got quite a thin squad now; considering you are now allowed 7 on the bench i think we'll be using everyone thats fit at the weekend, probably team:

R.Wright; Bruce, McAuley, Balkestein, Delaney; Walters, Norris, Healy, Garvan, Martin; Stead. Subs; Supple, D.Wright, Smith, Trotter, Quinn, Peters, Wickham.

Shumi's Quote: "I am very happy to be here at this brilliant club, with a brilliant manager and staff. I wanted to come here before, but we had complications but now I am here.

So is he saying that Ipswich is not a brilliant club, with a brilliant manager and staff then??? Get lost Shumi.

KBL, no where does it imply that Shumi holds this attitude. He is talking about Preston, not Ipswich! There is no element of comparison in his statement so I don't know where you have got it from.

Cheers Shumi, I liked you, others didn't really give you much of a chance, but good luck regardless.
