Two or Three Signings Possible Before Coventry Thursday, 6th Aug 2009 10:48 Town boss Roy Keane says the Blues could sign one, two or even three players before the season starts on Sunday when Town travel to Coventry for a live Sky game (KO 12.45pm). Keane says the club have been in negotiations regarding several possible additions to the squad: “There have been talks for a number of days with a couple of clubs about different players, but I wouldn’t like to comment on certain individuals. However, we are hopeful of signing a new player, maybe two, maybe three, in the next 48 hours. “There are still big ifs - whether we’ll get permission to speak to these players, we have to discuss personal terms, there’s medicals involved - so there’s a long way to go on any of these deals.” Strikers are clearly top of Keane’s wish-list with Watford’s Tamás Priskin and Sunderland’s Daryl Murphy two of the players likely to have been the subject of the talks: “You look at the goals we scored last season, I think it was 62, we need more than that - goals win games.” Sunderland loanee Jack Colback will come into Keane’s thinking for Coventry, having joined on loan until January, not as initially believed for the full season. The Town boss confirmed that the central midfielder will be considered for a role at the Ricoh Arena: “He’s a young player I know well. We’re looking forward to him coming down, he’ll train today and he’ll go straight into the first team squad. “He’s a very good young player, tenacious, good energy, can tackle, he’ll do well for us.” Town’s only new injury concern is midfielder Colin Healy, who is suffering with blisters after last week’s sessions with the army, although the former Cork City man would miss the game in any case as he has a suspension carried over from his time in the League of Ireland. David Wright came through the reserve game at Bury without a problem, while Ben Thatcher is unlikely to be involved with the first team as yet and Pablo Couñago is sidelined with his groin problem.
