Police Looking for Robson Tribute Thief
Friday, 14th Aug 2009 07:32

Police are looking for a thief who stole shirts and scarves from the area around the statue of Sir Bobby Robson on Monday evening. The man was caught on CCTV at around 6.30pm taking the tributes to the legendary Blues boss, who died on July 31st.

A Town spokesman said: “The club has been made aware that a small number of items have been taken from the public tribute to Sir Bobby Robson and we are, naturally, distressed and disappointed to hear of the theft.

“It is our further understanding that Suffolk Constabulary are investigating the matter and as always we will be assisting them in any way we can to help them find those responsible.”

The man the police are searching for is described black, with short hair, wearing sunglasses, a black denim jacket and dark jeans.

Unbelievably low, scummy act ..... if/when he is identified the book should be thrown at him, or as someone else said - stand him in front of the crowd in the centre circle at a home game and let us boo, whistle and jeer him. And then get one of the North Stand heavies to kick him in the nuts!

But then again he would probably get off because it would infringe his 'human rights' .....

Its disgusting, how could anyone do something so low? He deserves to be given a kicking by every person at Portman Road + St James Park - actually, any football fan that appreciated Sir Bobby!

When caught, at the half-time interval of the Newcastle match, tie him to the goal (preferably the North Stand end) and we can take it in turns to brush up on our penalty taking skills - both sets of fans invited, of course!

Should be easy enough to catch...

1. Doubt he went to the make up artist first to get some Hollywood style face changing rubber mask

2. Personal gain presumably for money, so not a collector.. a little Ebay monitoring?

3. If not focused on anything particular CCTV tends to be looking at junctions so other cameras may give the cops the direction he travelled in after leaving the area.

As for the sentiments, I think the capital punishment style stuff is a bit over the top and gives too much importance to some pathetic petty thieving, this is clearly a sad individual who needs to be pittied... oh & locked in the stocks near ot the statue every Saturday there's a home game for a season & rotten fruit & veg provided for the purpose of throwing at him....

however we all know he'll get a £80 fine & some community service...

This is sickening...

I can't see that anyone would want to buy anything on ebay described as being something from the Sir Bobby Tribute memorial! There's no reason for it and it's totallty disrespectful!

I hope he's named and shamed, he won't show his face around here again then!

I say it should be something a la Die Hard 3 - drop him in the middle of Newcastle wearing a sandwich board that says "I stole from Sir Bobby's memorial" and see how long he lasts...

Lynch the little so and so. Keep an eye on eBay for Town Memorabilia, buy it and then ask to collect it personally.

Can we have a picture of him please?

I've got to be honest I'm not massively surprised. This town, crime wise I feel has gone downhill year after year and I just wouldnt put it past some of the sad pathetic morons who live in our town!

Catch him, please, even if he doesn't get much at court (because he won't), at least we can make an example of him through the press etc.
