McAuley Set for Exit?
McAuley Set for Exit?

Town will look to sell skipper Gareth McAuley after a bust-up with manager Roy Keane, according to a report in one of this morning’s tabloids. The Northern Irishman will be sold in order to raise funds to strengthen the squad.

McAuley, who was left out of the side which faced West Brom on Saturday, is said to have angered Keane at a midweek meeting where the side’s poor start to the season was discussed.

Oops ! All going a bit wrong
Saturday's performance suggested that we needed a defender or two that know what they're doing.
Common Kean'o... sort it out !
One positive though.... Richard Wright for England !

Good news, McAuley clearly cant step up to the plate. Get him out and get some lads in with some bottle. Poor player and a poor captain. Watson will be a good addition if it comes off.

I have no problem in letting McAuley go!! He's slow, doesn't read the game very well, doesn't lead the defence verbally, & is definately not captain material, Yes its gonna be tough to get a quality centre back, but I think Bruce as captain is a far better option.

i know he hasnt been that good this season but he is still a good player at this level and would be shame for him to leave.
But on the positive side, i hope the funds are put to good use if this is true.

People have short memories of how bloody well he played last season.

I don't know really what to make of this one, yeah he played well last season, but has not really really been the shining he was last year, then again we can say that about a lot of players in the squad! Come on Keane you can do it Still 42 games to go, lets hope that we get some thing out the bag against preston and go from there.

He may have had a few decent games last season but he costs us far too many points, you cant have a central defender who constantly ducks under the ball and bottles challenges

What are you on about Johnny Boy? He's awful. His positional sense is nil, his distribution likewise and his judgment when reading the game non-existent. Get rid of him and bring in a proper centre-back and defensive leader. Balkestein is prospect, so get him in someone that can show him the ropes properly.

He looks a different player this season and i feel that he is threatened by RK. we cant seem to find a decent partnership at the back. Pim is below par and not good enough for this level. Need some new faces, a bit of quality and not just irishman who play in a considerably slower and poor quality league. NEEDS TO BE SORTED A.S.A.P.

Keene is the manager who appears to have most supporters backing. If there are players who cant or wont play for him the way he wants then its good bye to each and everyone who ever they are, unless of course we are into player power and the manager fits in, not the keene way I am sure.

Come on Jim, sign him up!!!
£1.5 mill and he's all yours

Hugely inconsistent at best. Never liked him personally, making him captain was a joke, and the price we paid for him was over the top. One of Jims worst signings IMO, considering the cost. I wonder how much we'll recoup....

I think part of the problem is that under Magilton far too many players were playing each week irrespective of their form or how they played in the last game. McAuley was one of them. I seems to me that he thinks he is better than he actually is. So he is a Northern Ireland international - big deal!
Maybe he objects to being told what to do by someone from over the border.
What I like about Keane is he is not frightened to get stuck into players and if necessary drop them - as could be seen on Saturday
What he has done is give players a chance ie Trotter, Delaney, Healy to name 3. It is obvious all 3 are not good enough
I know many fans dont like him but I think we are missing Norris big time

Next to leave will be Garvan especially if the price is right - overrated in my view and for a player who was moaning last week about not starting - he most certainly shot himself in the foot on Saturday

Yes, McAuley is not the player we need. Perhaps we can get a 'job lot' with Delaney and Healey included. Anyway, RK has enough on his plate this week with teaching one of the first team the difference between a Corner flag and a ball. Talk about back to basics!

Thank God , McAuley was rubbish He was to slow couldnt pass to save his life and no way was he a leader , And all the people who are saying what an earth has happend to the club dont have a clue sell him for a million buy a decent centre back !

CAN WE HAVE A 'BUY ONE GET ONE FREE OFFER' AND GET RID OF DELANEY AS WELL AND TO AN EARLIER POST WE ARE NOT PLAYING LAST SEASON THATS GONE! ITS THIS SEASON NOW WE WER POOR IN THE FIRST 4 GAMES AND THE GOALS SCORED SO FAR ARE A BIT WORRYING 2! YEAH WE NEED TO SORT OUT THE DEFENCE BUT WE ALSO NEED TO SORT OUT QUALITY BALLS INTO THE BOX A FEW AND RAR BETWEEN AT THE MOMENT LIKE ROY KEANE SAID EARLIER GOALS WIN GAMES WELL WE NEED TO SCORE MORE

Good riddence Mcauley you're rubbish, however, needing to sell players to make funds?
COME ON EVANS SORT IT OUT. Your rich you tight fisted b******. Give roy a cheeky 12 mill like you did Jim.
If your so desperate to get promotion then your gunna need to spend a bit.

Surly cant be true he has to sell before he can buy!
Otherwise he wudnt of took this job in the first place.
He needs to sign 3 quality players or we are going no where, I cant see the players we got at the moment getting no where near the play offs!
Oh well..... UPA TOWN !!!

I am glad to see him go, he rates up there with some of the worse Town defenders of all time. Keane probably told him this via text message mind you. If we can sell him, use that money to bring in a stronger Centre Half, or maybe a more stable Left-Back (or even a Wing-Back) then the side will improve. Defence needs sorting.

macauley is a decent player at this level but not good enough to be a top championship 'rock' at the back, which if we are gonna get promoted we'll need and if he can't take criticism then he should be shipped out.
We need a centre back getting near the end of his career that can strengthen our defence for a couple of years, another Mowbray, De Vos or Wark (season 1991/92) would be great

Lubomir Michalik from Leeds will do nicely as his replacement. Seen him a few times and he has looked solid constantly. Slovakia international too, so I don't know where Keane will stand as he ain't irish, but he is a man mountain at 6 foot 4.

Oh and it's no suprise that McAuley is off, can't recall him doing something good defensively in quite a while. Should have never been captain.
