Skipper Gareth McAuley has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Slovakia early next month. McAuley will be looking to win his 18th full cap.

Northern Ireland face Poland on Saturday 5th September at the Slaski Stadium in Chorzow, then Slovakia at Windsor Park on Wednesday 9th September.

Northern Ireland: Maik Taylor (Birmingham City), Alan Mannus (Shamrock Rovers), Jonathan Tuffey (Partick Thistle), Stephen Craigan (Motherwell), Aaron Hughes (Fulham), Gareth McAuley (Ipswich Town), Ryan McGivern (Manchester City), Chris Baird (Fulham), Jonathan Evans (Manchester United), George McCartney (Sunderland), Colin Coates (Crusaders). Grant McCann (Scunthorpe United), Chris Brunt (West Bromwich Albion), Niall McGinn (Celtic), Sammy Clingan (Coventry City), Damien Johnson (Birmingham City), Steven Davis (Rangers), David Healy (Sunderland), Andrew Little (Rangers), Martin Paterson (Burnley), Kyle Lafferty (Rangers), Jamie Ward (Sheffield United).

If the Worthington picks his team on current player form then he's missed our first 4 games. Cannot see him playing in this one unless he seriously bucks up his ideas.
