Keane Eyeing Former Players
Keane Eyeing Former Players
Monday, 24th Aug 2009 22:04

TWTD understands that Town boss Roy Keane was expected to watch tonight’s Norwich City-Sunderland Carling Cup tie at Carrow Road to run the rule over one or two of his ex-players.

Nyron Nosworthy and Carlos Edwards were the players most likely to be interesting the Blues boss from the much-changed Black Cats starting line-up.

Daryl Murphy, who the Blues have been trying to sign for much of close season, was amongst the Sunderland subs and came on in the second half, while midfielder Andy Reid may also have caught Keane’s eye with two goals as Steve Bruce’s side defeated the Canaries 4-1.

Central defender Nosworthy and right midfielder/right-back Edwards have both been linked with Town on a number of occasions over the summer, having been key members of Keane’s Sunderland side.

Town’s Alex Bruce was present at the game to watch his father’s side in action.

Yes please to any of the players linked. No worse than the players we have! Murphy is even better than Stead! I've made the point before but WHY did Jim pay £1.25M for a loan player after just one match? It's now the reason why we need to see before we buy!

If you were to use one Username, you'd easily have that many... if not more.
Good to see Jim doing well at QPR though.

Falling apart and bickering after only 4 games, at each others throats and not standing tall for the team and history of Ipswich Town Football Club!! No not the players - us fans!!!!

Come on guys, this is the time that Roy and the boys need us most!

Always liked the name Nyron Nosworthy, going right back to Gills days. But never thought he'd end up playing for Town.

Andy Reid is class but can we keep his weight down?

Edwards - er...

If any of these boys or any other possible signings pull on the blue and white of Ipswich Town, then please do the right thing and support them. The idiot boo boys and moaners will ultimately be the undoing of this wonderful football club. Who's going to want to play for us if all they hear is negativity and lack of support!?

Those of us who are the real fans through thick and thin also have a duty to try and make some positive noises, if we can't sing loudly then the least we can do is at least try clapping none stop!!

Saw some of the norwich/sunderland game earlier..Edwards looks excellent, willing to take on players & a very good passer of the ball...didn't take much notice of Noseworthy..as for Murphy, don't think he's any better than Stead.

Can we not look elsewhere? I know Keane has good links with Bruce but it's tiring to constantly see us linked with ex-Sunderland players. I know if they do the job it doesn't matter where they're from and with a week left of the window this may be to be expected but I can't help thinking we're narrowing our options.

I think Roy must have persuaded Marcus Evans to put his hand in his pocket and to be honest the players who Roy will be wanting to move on will not generate enough transfer funds to bring in decent reinforcements. Maybe we could ship out 3 or 4 of the underperforming players but i doubt that would even raise enough to get one of these guys. i just hope that we can get as many players in as we sell, because we already have a rather small squad, don't think we can deplete it anymore.

i would be happy to see nosworthy in blue...where would edwards fit in? if he is right midfield, where would you move walters? despite having an indifferent start, i still consider him one of our top players. as for reid....NO WAY!! fat, slow, little player who occasionally puts in a good performance every now and then, no thanks!!

This is going to be an interesting week...but remember, it is still august, so those fickle fans out there need to just take a moment to realise that....burnley lost their first 2 games 4-0 and 3-0 last year and their fans were talking of a relegation battle and wanting coyle out...12 months down the line they're beating everton and man utd.....keep the faith!!!

OnlyOneSirBobby - we dont need to accomodate Walters, we need to drop him ! he is not good enough, Edwards is a far better right midfielder. And as for Andy Reid, You are sorely mistaken if you think he is not far better than anything we have got, he would walk into our side. There is not a player on our books who could have produced the sublime chip he scored last night against the scum.

BlueVic added 07:22 - Aug 25
is it too optimistic to want reid who scored twice against the scum? He would be outstanding for us.

Johnny_Boy added 07:43 - Aug 25
HP - Priskin is the man for scoring sublime chips... there's enough clips of him doing it on Youtube.
