Supple Back in Action
Supple Back in Action
Friday, 4th Sep 2009 14:41

Former Town keeper Shane Supple returned to action on Thursday evening when he played for Gaelic football side St Brigid’s in a Dublin Senior Football Championship game against St Jude’s. The 22-year-old left the Blues by mutual consent last month after deciding a career in professional soccer wasn’t for him.

Supple, a big fan of the GAA games since childhood, took his usual position between the sticks but couldn’t prevent his new team from being defeated 2-13 to 2-12.

I think many people on here just like to moan about anything, they'd moan if we had Man City or Real Madrid spending power, top of the prem and a whole host of world class stars in our team. I'm intersted in what he's doing, was a big loss for us, he was a talented keeper and I'd be happy to see him come back to football, even if it wasn't with us.
And one last thing, well said Greektractor!!!

Nice to see Shane is still involved in sport....who knows he might fall back in love with soccer. He is young enough.

The socks are red and white hoops . I personally take an interest in former players who go into other roles inside other sports. If Shane would play for Tyrone then Phil could save me the grief of looking for match reports on them as well as Northern Ireland in one sweet move. Promtion is indeed our goal so lets get behind what RK has put together and be respectful to those who have put in a great effort for Town.

I'm interested in what Shane does next as a) he was a very good goalkeeper, b) a nice lad and c) took a very interesting and bold career decision when he could have just sat back and picked up a sizeable pay cheque for the foreseeable future.

I reckon we'll see Shane pulling on the light blue of the Dublin county team in next season's All-Ireland championship.

**NEWS FLASH**
Shane Supple was seen in Tescos buying a packet of custard creams and a jar of Colemans Mustard. It is thought that Mr Supple will soon be popping into his local Esso garage to fill up his motor. You heard it here first ... The next episode in the marvellous life of former ITFC reserve team goalkeeper Shane Supple is programmed for tomorrow at 7.30pm. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM cue picture of Dublin map ....

blueoveru, I haven't been able to get to PR so far since the season started. I just wondered if your avatar (big word I learnt via participation in TWTD) is a real image of the scene at the temple these days or just a computer-generated fantasy picture? If the former, I'm very impressed; it looks really good.

Good Luck Shane, nice to see him getting on with his life. Not an easy decision for a young lad to make. Good to see someone with the Balls to do so. Whatever Shane decides to do next I wish him all the best, as do the majority of Real Town fans. Top Lad, great Keeper.
