Three Trialists in Reserves
Three Trialists in Reserves
Wednesday, 28th Oct 2009 14:21

Town have included three trialists in the reserves side taking on Norwich City at Portman Road this afternoon (KO 2pm). Amongst them is Icelandic U19 international Pape Mamadou Faye, who TWTD was first to reveal was on trial at Portman Road a week ago.

The 18-year-old Senegal-born frontman, who is also set for a trial spell with Reading, has been playing his football with Icelandic club Fylkir.

Faye has made 19 appearances in the Icelandic Premier League, netting one goal. Last month he scored three goals for Iceland’s U19s in two friendlies against Scotland and recently also netted in a 3-2 European qualifier victory against Bulgaria.

Also facing the Canaries is Ibrahima Faye, a Senegalese central defender or left-back, who was with French side Troyes until the summer. The 30-year-old has previously played for SM Caen and Red Star 93 in France and Belgian side KAA Gent. Capped three times by Senegal, Faye has recently been on trials with Stoke City and Leicester.

The third trialist is Ragnar Leosson a midfielder, who currently plays for IA Akranes in his home country. Leosson is an Icelandic U19 international team-mate of Pape Mamadou Faye. The 18-year-old made his first team debut for his club in 2007.

Reserves: Lee-Barrett, Ainsley, I Faye, Brown,Balkestein, Hyam, Lambe, Garvan, Upson, PM Faye, Leosson. Subs: Murray, McLoughlin, Cawley, Dunbar, Eastman.

Unbelievable - Another sign that RK has lost the plot. When will the real fans ever learn that if you are going to have an opinion it has to be the same as mine. Otherwise you are not a real fan - OK? It's not rocket science!

Anyway we would rather not have people like you around the ground on a Saturday afternoon.

Was very impressed by Ibra Faye... best player on the pitch aswell as Ainsley..
I hoped that Garvan would be above the rest in that game but other than two very good 40 yard passes he was well below average... can't understand why he can make 40 yards passes but now 10 yards!

Strange how we all see players differently!
Watch today's game and agree with most of the comments from the match reporter. Ed H was class in the first half and may well have done enough to push for a squad place this weekend. Garvin gave no indication of busting a gut to get back in the first team squad. Of the 3 trialist, agree the front 2 were very raw and very average however the left back/midfielder Ibrahimi Faye I thought was a class above anyone else on the pitch, he was fast, strong in the tackle and could pass the ball well. He started the passing phase for the Town goal. I can honestly say even though it was the reserves against the scum, he looked better than any other left back at the club.
