![]() Monday, 2nd Nov 2009 13:45 Loanee keeper Asmir Begovic has been named in the Bosnia and Herzegovina squad for their World Cup play-off games against Portugal later this month. Bosnia are in action against the Portuguese in Lisbon on Saturday 14th November and then at home in Zenica on the following Wednesday. Begovic, who recently won his first full Bosnia cap after switching from playing for Canada who he had represented at youth levels, told the club site that his country face a stiff test: "We know we have a tough draw but we feel we can give anyone a good game and over two legs you never know what will happen. "Bosnia took the longest to rebuild after Yugoslavia split up but we have the players now to compete with anyone in the world. "Our squad is a very tight unit and the players know just what it would mean to the people if we qualified for the World Cup." Begovic is on loan with the Blues from Portsmouth until January but says he would consider staying for longer: “I wouldn't go back [to Portsmouth] in January unless there was a good reason. “I am very much enjoying life here with Ipswich Town a great club and the chance to play regular first team football is fantastic." Meanwhile, Sheffield United, Coventry and Town are said to be leading the chase to sign transfer-listed Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood.
