Keane Looking for Town to Push On
Keane Looking for Town to Push On
Wednesday, 4th Nov 2009 13:14

Town boss Roy Keane says his side now need to “push on” after claiming their first league win of the season against Derby County. The Blues travel to Reading’s Madejski Stadium on Saturday looking to claim a second win and a quick escape from the bottom three.

Keane told the club site: "We certainly won't be sitting back now after the win over Derby. We know we have to push on from here because we have a massive challenge ahead of us and that starts with a very important game at Reading this weekend.

"The win is a monkey off the players' backs, if I can put it that way. We all have our pride and it was hurting us and hurting the fans.

"We have not given our supporters much to shout about lately, although over the last four or five weeks we have played some good stuff but not got the results.

"On Saturday we didn't play well but got the win and now we have to kick on against Reading."

Meanwhile, a Berkshire newspaper has revealed that Town paid a loan fee of £200,000 for Reading full-back Liam Rosenior when he moved to Portman Road for the rest of the season in August. As we revealed on Monday, the 25-year-old is able to face his parent club at the weekend.

Elsewhere, Notts County are the latest club linked with Sheffield Wednesday central defender Richard Wood. Town, Coventry and Sheffield United have previously been linked with Wood, who has been transfer-listed by the Owls.

"The win is a monkey off the players' backs"

The only monkey on the player's backs now is YOU Mr Keane.

As much as I would like to say we will win on saturday I cannot see it! We won one game at home to a very mediocre team, only scoring one goal in the proccess! I hate to say it but I can see us losing/drawing against reading, bringing us crashing back down to earth and keeping us at the bottom of the table.

I have to say I still want him out!

If we draw we weill still be bottom of the table! Anyhow - alot of people think we are better than the surrounding teams and will soon be mid table, if that is the case surely only a win wil do against Reading?

I think you are too easily pleased Superblueflude! Anything less than 3 points will make me want him out more than ever before!

I wish people would accept each others opinions on here...it's childish....banter is ok but respect the right of open speech and opinion.....some say stick with Keano some say get him out....one thing we all have in common is we love the ITFC.....yes we did win on Saturday...yes we were poor at times and yes the winning goal was from a defender and the striker who we paid out for is not good at 'one on ones'......but whether we think we will flop or give a push to win and take a step up lets pray we get what we all want and that is 3 POINTS!

RATHER BE BLUE AND WHITE AND DOING BAD THAN BE YELLOW AND GREEN!

Really looking forward to Saturdays game. Be interesting to see what that win has done for the teams confidence. Will we now push on up the table with more confidence or continue in the nervous vain we have since August? Reading are a shadow of their team from 2-3 seasons ago but also won well at the weekend. Were on an unbeaten run which hopefully can continue.

Given the amont of games we have drawn, the late goals conceeded to either lose by a single goal, or be denied the 3 points - we don't seem far away. Fact is the results don't lie but we could be in a much better position and beleive we will get ourselves out of this mess - hopefully continuing saturday.

In terms of the squad I for one was slightly dissapointed when Wrighty was dropped and Begovic came in but hats off to Roy, Begovic seems to have sorted the backline and the leaky goals. Once we start finding the back of the net and don't rely on single goals im sure we'll be fine. Just need Pabs, Priskin and Walters to find their boots (maybe Wickham when he's back)

Watched Reading play Leicester on Sky a week or so ago and they played some pretty good stuff but missed that killer instinct in the box......now that sounds like a team we all know! From what I can deduce they are under a lot of pressure to win at home, so if we keep them out for 20-30 mins then I think the match will swing in our favour. Hopefully Rosineor will bag a goal, because if he was a Town player on loan to Reading then yo know he would!

Both teams had good results at the weekend but I feel town have that little bit more quality, if we can keep rasiak, howard and mcAnuff quite Im sure we can push on and get ourselves off the bottom. We all know our squad has weaknesses but with players like leadbitter, walters and wright we really shouldn't be were we are. I woud like to see an attacking display on Saturday, they are poor at home and sitting back will only cause us major issues!

think hard Mr. Keane

We have to be positive on Saturday. We got the monkey off our backs on Saturday, but Reading still have the albatross of their home form round their necks. If we give them enough to worry about, we have every chance of grabbing a win.

Like us Reading have players who can give anybody in this division a run for their money on their day and like us they have seriously underperformed so far this Season. They will have their tails up after thumping Cov at the weekend and from what I saw of their last home game against Leicester they were very unlucky not to at least get a share of the spoils. It's a game we can definitely win but it'll be tough and at the end of the day I'd take a draw to keep the unbeaten run going.

Why would so many of you take a draw! I suppose you take relegation as well
