Hearts Pair Linked
Hearts Pair Linked
Tuesday, 10th Nov 2009 09:10

Town are keeping an eye on Hearts pair Lee Wallace and Jose Goncalves, according to a tabloid report this morning. Manager Roy Keane is said have sent scouts to Scotland on a regular basis this season and is ready to offer £2 million for left-back Wallace in January.

Wallace, 22, came through the youth system at Hearts, making his senior debut in 2004. The Edinburgh-born defender won his first full Scotland cap in October, having previously played at U19, U20 and U21 levels. He is contracted to Hearts until 2012.

In 2006 Wallace was fined £1,500 for possessing an airgun and earlier this year was fined £1,100 after a bust-up with bouncers outside a nightclub.

Goncalves, 24, plays either at left-back or centre-half and is out of contract next summer. The Blues are said to be considering offering the former Portuguese U21 international a pre-contract agreement in January ahead of a Bosman move next summer.

The Lisbon-born defender previously played for Swiss sides Basel, Winterthur and Thun, having been brought up in Switzerland, in Italy with Venezia, in Lithuania with Kaunas and last season was on loan at Nuremberg in Germany.

The report also again claims that Town have had a bid turned down by Stoke for defensive pair Leon Cort and Danny Higginbotham, something which Roy Keane and Tony Pulis have both denied.

Meanwhile, Town’s reserves are in action against Haverhill Rovers in the quarter-finals of the LB Group Suffolk Premier Cup at Portman Road this evening (KO 7.45pm).

Brogan nose as said before before the birth of my son lasdt year me and my brother used to make about 5 trips a season to pr and went to all the london games if possible, bnow my son is 1yr 1 month, in a few mnths he wil be able to come with us so i shall be making the occasional trip up there!

You all tyhink i mug, I can take that but let me tell you, once me and my brother could not get a ticket for the facup game against watford when that irish fella got sent off (forget his name). We sat in with the watford fans all game, not cheering at first but by the end were shiouting for town louder than anyone there! in the dying minutes of the game we left clapping all the town fans and they (you) recipricated it by cheering us out the watford end! We then walked round, went into the itfc stand and stood and chanted for ten mintues, as we should have won the game but haynes goal was not given!

give it a few months and I will make trips to portman road, atm its too loud for the bubba but soon he will be ok to come with us! We should all have a beer at half time!

Would be a good signing, but this is purely speculation, probably drummed up from Heart who may want to cash in on an asset.

In any event, surely Roy is looking to sign a striker?

I think its a bit loud to take him at the moment, but he will be there soon gonna turn him into a rite town fan, so he and all your kids can argue in generations to come!

I never stop anyoen from having there say they, but yes I cant be bothered with this everytime I comment so i will be changing the way i write my comments in future!

Just to assume somebody is not at work because they can 'drool' over this all day is a bit silly I think. Many people work with computers and IT - such as myself. So I'm another one who can 'drool' as well.

"Teractor damage, let me point you in the direction of my original post on this story"
"That is how this started."

You're right, CGS. But 'one swallow does not make a summer'. You built a trademark style of behaviour on here and, let's be honest, it was a phrase likely to goad people into reacting (like too many of your posts). I'm talking about general behaviour....which is not doing you any good fella.

You're fast-becoming 'the Man U of the boards'....everyone dislikes you due to your own behaviour, yet you dig a deeper hole for yourself by thriving on it and continuing the behaviour as a form of defence.

And yes....it feels cr*p when you feel really unpopular. Really crap. Can you honestly say you haven't deserved it? How would you react to someone over-dramatising and every issue like you've been doing?? (Answer: you'd react the same, as you ARE blatantly doing on here. You're not being different to the aggressors you're complaining about). There are many people who will shout and insult as soon as something over-dramatic or unfair is said. Don't dish it out if you cannot take it back mate.

That being said Callum, you took my comments about you really well. There is hope for you yet, fella. A weak insecure mind would have reacted with a massive shouting defence and denial (as the psychological truth of what was said hits the spot). You didn't react like that....you took it really well.
A strong genuine 'alpha male' mind would learn from the mistakes and keep improving. You showed a glimpse of that. You didn't fulfill the stereotype. In a way, you flung some powerful verbal missiles back simply by being honest, self-deprecating and grounded. Act more like that and you'll get people respecting your opinion. (It's interesting to know your spelling is a bit crap because you're rushing to desperately try to defend yourself - again that makes you look easily provoked, defensive and flustered). NB: I also wonder if my deliberate omission of exclamation marks got you listening ;). No powerful words in history have ever been shouted (oh alright...except that speech in Braveheart)

How about you take a little lesson from today....so 'pull that cork out yer ass', write without exclamation marks, with good spelling and say a measured reason why you're worried about Keane in charge of this great club.
My opinion, from the start of the season, was that creative players (passing types) don't react well to 'sergeant-major'-type bosses. But I never wanted to be right. We discuss this club's problems because we need to know if we're gonna be happy if Keane stays/gets fired, right?

Analysis of the ACTUAL issue leads to constructive debate....over-dramatic name-calling and generalisation leads to the pointless bickering we had here today.

Seriously dude....from tomorrow, be a bit calmer and more reasonable in your thoughts. Although you were backed into a corner today (and did the typical self-pity reaction at the end though), you WERE showing a more reasonable side later on. Most people don't have the guts or mental strength to admit a flaw, then improve on it: which intimidates many, as most people can't do it. How about it?
If not, you'll re-open the can of verbal 'whoop-ass' you've been getting up till now....and from me too (not advisable).

Respect is earnt, not demanded. You earned a bit of my respect (if that matters) in your constructive reaction to my comments/veiled insults. Nice one.
Think about it.....Will Smith, Beckham, George Clooney, Robbie Williams...and all genuinely-loved megastars are self-deprecating and self-critical. It's why we like them. (You'll also notice women like these types too, not the rapper fakers and arrogant footballers who attract gold-digger trash). The ability to acknowedge your flaws is the surest sign of real talent. The talentless always use spin (see 'Labour Party').

You're the guy in charge of your son's behaviour later on in life. Do you want him to feel like you do today? You're an example to him...his hero. He will copy your demeanor and morals...time for a bit of an attitude change then yes?

I'm waffling.....I bid you farewell, but not without finally adding an exclamation mark, as it's about time......so.....erm.......[drum roll]........!

CGS if you are a fan (a big if) read oldgits post in the forum re meeting Keano and you will finally understand.
Once you read that come back and post on here.

hells bells tractordamage you've torn him apart.
My advice would be to sign up again under a different user name so no1 knows who you are anymore. Then when everyone hates you again repeat the process.
Finally, when you feel sad because no1 likes your pointless tosh you can open a bebo account and cry about your problems over a self indulgent blog that your other 16-year-old friends can relate with and offer you a pre-pubescent shoulder to cry on.

Tractor Damage I appreciate that!

I will read the forum, but Pickles I honestly doubt it will change my opinions of RK! For me, not you, I have seen enough of him and his decisions, but i'll take a look!

Greek tractor, would you do that, change your name and then start commenting? He tore me apart, have you been scan reading again? He is not ribbing me (i dont think) he is telling me why today happened! I'm 24.

Uefa81 I apologise to you as I like your posts as they are the closest views to mine on this site!

I aint proud of some of the things I wrote on here today to the point were I kinda cringed as i'd clicked the post button, that dont need an apology, just for it to never happen again!

In regards to the drooling, since I discovered this site I think I have posted more than anyone else! Seriously I love it, I do not know any supporters apart from my brother, me boy although he dont know it yet! I only get to 'talk town' on here! I will continue to do so, and as much as I like to think I can hold my own on here, I dont fancy doing this everyday, my brain gets tired!'

Yes I am a true Town fan, JUST LIKE YOU (well maybe not exactly the same) but I would never support anyone else and would bet good money that through my various ways of following town know just as much as any of you (about recent seasons).

Tractordamage, thanks for some of that, I aint always the most pleasant person but I like to think some of my responses were 'good' too! But i do agree with everything you said, and am still in a bit of shock as to how well you wrote it!

Oh and my spelling is amazing if I slow down, although i'm still using the exclamation marks, I will have to look at that!!!!!!!!!!!!

To reply to comments re my earlier post on whether ME had the humilty/balls to get rid of Keane (who like it or not has been a total disaster-the table, standard of football, the results don't lie)...I think if so many people had any real belief in Keane wouldn't our home attendance have gone up considerably this season?.
Correct me if i'm wrong but I do believe that this season's average home crowd is no better than last season's (around 21,000) and somewhat down on the previous few seasons.
I for one thought that having a big name like Keane would've put an extra 3 or 4 thousand on the gate this season - seems like he hasn't really captured the supporters belief or imagination and if things are allowed to drag on how long til we start dipping under the 20,000 mark - I guess only a relegation fight will push the gate up which is not what ME had in mind i'm sure.

Lightningboy, glad you came back.
I have read your post a couple of times, and please feel free to correct me if i am wrong, you dont actually say whether you think ME has "dropped the ball" with appointing Keane.
Obviously ME didnt want a relegation battle, do any of us?
However, we,the country, seem to be in one of the deepest recessions in recent times, and with money tight, the fact that the gates have stayed static and not dropped, i would have thought was a key indicator that us the fans have faith in Keane and the way he has got the team playing.
ME being a businessman will see this as a positive, believe me, i know how these people think.
He will not be overjoyed, lets face it who would, however if us, the fans started voting with our feet, then perhaps he would give the situation another thought.
Already certain managers have "fallen" and in all these situations the owner/chaiman has said it is because of falling gates...something that is not happening at PR...yet!

...and CGS...I agree with some of your views/disagree with others (like most on here)...at the end of the day we all love our club and it's a shame that all we've seemed to have done is spent this entire season falling out with eachother & arguing over Roy Bloody Keane.
I pray this mess ends sooner or later so we can get on with talking about the club & the games rather than the controversy that follows our current manager around with him everywhere he goes.
