Clegg: Nothing Has Changed
Clegg: Nothing Has Changed
Tuesday, 24th Nov 2009 15:25

Chief executive Simon Clegg has repeated his backing for manager Roy Keane in the wake of yesterday’s tabloid claim that the Blues boss was set to be sacked.

Clegg said: “The reports are absolute rubbish. I spoke to the media only recently and reiterated our full backing to the manager then and nothing has changed in our position.”

Meanwhile, Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has commented on Roy Keane’s remarks regarding Ireland’s controversial World Cup exit and the FAI: "I found them disturbing. I didn't enjoy hearing it. He did great for Sunderland FC and I won't forget that, but I won't always agree with everything he does."

Keane’s biographer Eamon Dunphy has also made his thoughts known on the matter.

On the most serious note possible, we are bang in trouble with this mob in charge (Keane inc)

The fact is... We've had a run of winnable games in the last 6-8 weeks, and only won 1 of them.
Cardiff away this weekend - much tougher test... I'll make my mind after that.

Well, SC would hardly say anything different than that, would he?

I still think that RK has got until Xmas to get us out of the bottom 3 and moving up the table. If he doesn't manage that, then I'd expect ME to take action.

Its so nice to have somebody who speaks his mind, many organisations seem to be run for people at the top, if the training facilities and preparations were poor in saipan then he was right to say so. No doubt he cares about this still and missing the world cup has obviously hurt him. Give me someone that give a monkeys any time, too manny people who dont really care and just say the right words. You see cheating in games all of the time, it was ludicrous to suggest a replay, just playing to the masses, the F.A.I. knew damn well it wasn't going to happen. Yes it was harsh, unfair, clive thhomas F.A. cup semi, the side netting goal for chelsea, villa champions in 81, but keane is right. Thats football.

Pickles i am not anti keane in the slightest ,i am an Ipswich fan who is a realist and i will cheer Keanes name if he turns this around which i hope he does because we need a figurehead which Keane is if we do get promoted to the premiership . What i wont do is cheer someone who has not proved himself at Ipswich just because of who he is after taking us on the worst run in history .
And all this club backing "maybe they protest to much " ?

Better that Clegg said something rather than nothing - as silence would only result in more rumour and conjecture in the press.

Anyway, all clubs back their manager - up to the point that they fire them!

I am positive we need 2 wins in the next 3 games.

Surco, if you are a supporter you should be cheering his name now and get behind him and the team.
To much negativity and we could end up with CGS and the daft budgies wishes.

I agree Pickles but the majority of fans at home and especially the away games have been very vocal in their support myself included and this has not improved the performances or the players nerves on the pitch so there must be another reason . What will happen if the boos at the end of the game on sat start getting more and more ?

I_AM_GOD added 16:18 - Nov 24
To add to the discussion - I will cheer on Keane and the team come what may on the pitch, but why should someone be slated on here for feeling they want to face facts and believe we are going nowhere this year?

Very hard question to pose on when do you change your manager? What happens if we come out undefeated but still only one win in five games? Do we keep waiting to see what will happen?

I would probably jump and replace Keane now - but it isn't my money and I am glad it is not me making that decision!!!

CGS, just a thought...you pride yourself on coming on here and saying exactly what you think...damn the consequences.
Yet you seem to hate Keane for doing exactly the same thing!

You are right in the assumption that there is not an Ipswich fan happy with the clubs position at the moment, but it seems the majority expect this to change sooner rather than later, and build on it next season.
Rather than just repeating yourself moronically, and i dont say that to be unkind, why not respect the man for his honesty and integrity, and if things dont change, i guarantee you and all the other Keane haters will be rewarded with him getting the sack.
In the meantime, try supporting his efforts, however succesful or unsuccessful they are, and enjoy the ride

Agreed, we still need that same thing all our last few managers have overlooked, A decent striker. Hopefully before this loan window shuts tight we will have one on board. Otherwise we could struggle.

Plain as the nose on (Brogans) face.
We need a striker, i still maintain, that if it were that easy to get one, then you and i would be top class managers.
Our season (imo) hangs on whether Keane can lure one here, of whether on of our own hits form.
