Keane Frustrated
Keane Frustrated
Saturday, 5th Dec 2009 22:20

Boss Roy Keane was hugely frustrated at Town’s failure to take their chances as their trip to Bristol City ended in a 0-0 draw. Pablo Couñago missed the most clear-cut opportunity late on after Grant Leadbitter had hit the post.

Keane said: "I'm hugely frustrated because we had a lot of good chances to win the game and that was the best.

"Pablo should have scored and with that chance coming so late on, it would have put us in a great position, but we should have been ahead at the break anyway, possibly by two goals.

"We are making progress as a team and there were a lot of positives in the performance, but we can't afford to let opponents off the hook.

"I'm happy with a lot of things, but the position we are in requires wins and we should have done better than a point today.

"Now we have a big week coming up with two games and it is essential we take our opportunities against Peterborough on Tuesday night."

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson was pleased to have got the draw with his side below par: "We're disappointed and it's a point gained with how the game went. Dean Gerken had to make some good one-on-one saves and we won't be gloating about a clean sheet.

"We got in on a couple of occasions when Danny Haynes hit the post twice but we didn't really get our game going.

"Ipswich are a difficult side to play against, hence why they've drawn so many away from home.

"We can't be ecstatic about our performance and on the day certain players didn't play that well today. There's also a certain work-rate which I expect from my players and some didn't quite reach that."

A point away is ok as long as you win your home games , so roll on tuesday night for a good home win !!!!!

Sounds like 4-1 would have been a fair result. There is going to be a game when all these chances hit the back of the net - let's hope it's Tuesday!

KeanoITFC09 - completely agree with you mate!

If someone had said to me before the Cardiff game we were going to get 4 out of a possible 6 points out of Cardiff and Bristol I would've been (and was) very pessimistic. Definitely signs of improvement recently but we really need to tighten up on finishing as that's what has cost 2 points today. Roll on 3 points from Peterborough on Tuesday...COYB!

Good result, pleased for Arran to get a clean sheet, great to see a local lad in the team doing well.

4 points from the next 2 home games will see us climbing the table nicely, good to see a lot more unity and positivity amongst the town fans. The team looks settled and united, i'm sure sometime soon we'll put our chances away and dish out a hiding, hopefully against Peterborough!

Up the town!

It is a frustrating not to win when we create plenty of chances to win the game there aren't many of us who wouldn't have taken this result beforehand.

On a positive note it's another game unbeaten and sets us up nicely for a couple of (easier?) home games. Well done Arran on keeping a clean sheet too.

Keep the faith.

Well done 4pts from 2 away games but nothing new in the managers quotes!! same problems as last 3 years NO FINISHER. it might not be easy but me thinks we need to sigh one in the next window!!

Exactly Fizzy Blue, i thought everyone in a blue shirt played well today, with the exception of Stern John who didn't really ever look in the game. Bizarrely enough, despite their possession around the box and Haynes hitting the post twice i think Lee-Barrett only had one shot to save didn't he? A testament to our defending. People seem willing to throw every available limb in the way to stop a shot coming in which is great to see.

Go to some games UEFA81 before you post on here.

Great support today boys, and nice one to the lads with the flags to give it something a bit extra.

I know it's boring to keep on about it, but why did he let a natural goalscorer like Rhodes go? Biggest mistake of RK's time here. We'd have 10 or 12 more points I reckon. In the defense & midfield, the improvements are there for all to see, and we have a solid base to build a successful team. Just need that elusive goal scorer, & I don't think we have a natural one in the squad. Not a big fan, but maybe Lisbie needs another chance?

Why can't people be a bit more constructive and except other peoples right to freedom of speech instead of acting like a kid in a play ground? we all have our rights to our opinions and we all have two things in common....we love blue and white and hate yellow and green!

punchbowl, yes you are right, everyone has a right to their opinion. The only problem with Uefa81 etc is that they post the same rubbish without even going to the games. I still believe they are scummers using ITFC monikers to try and disrupt the real Ipswich fans.
In Keano we trust.

just need a banging striker to score the goals. We should look outside of england/europe for one. Should not have sacked the scout bloke hunt?

We shuold try and make rosenioers permanent in jan?

Someone said that since your have been posting positively our performances have improved. Always thought you were our mascot. Totally agree that we should get Rossy signed up.

As for the 2 idiots (UEFA81 & ITFC81) - You really are twonks.

About time we banned these budgies in disguise?

I don't have to go to games to see what position we are in in the league table and realise we don't have a decent goal scorer.

We may be unbeaten in 8 games yet we are still in the relegation zone. That just goes to demonstrate that draws count for nothing really and the fact we are unbeaten in 8 games just sounds nice - nothing more. All these draws we keep having MUST be turned into wins or it is certainly League 1 next season.

As for me being a budgie - just goes to show how deluded you lot really are and how far you have your heads up 'King' Keane's arris. I've supported Ipswich for 26 years and despise the budgies as much as anybody else.

If I lived closer to Ipswich and had more time on my hands I would be able to get to games.
