Carsley Linked With Town and Notts County
Carsley Linked With Town and Notts County
Wednesday, 9th Dec 2009 09:47

Birmingham City midfielder Lee Carsley is interesting Town and Notts County, according to a tabloid report this morning. The 35-year-old is reportedly set to exit St Andrew’s during the transfer window, having not featured in the first team since early November.

Carsley, who is out of contract in June, was previously linked with the Blues in August when it was suggested that the former Ireland international might be unwilling to uproot his family from the Midlands.

Notts County are already said to have offered the ex-Derby, Blackburn, Coventry and Everton man a two-year deal, although he is believed to be less than keen to drop down to League Two.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish says that ideally he’d prefer Carsley and Kevin Phillips to remain with his club until the end of the season but understands that they may depart if longer term deals are on offer elsewhere: “I would like Lee and Kevin Phillips to stay for the rest of the season.

“I understand that if there’s something they feel strongly about, that was better for them, I wouldn’t stand in their way. They are reasonable people and phenomenal professionals. At the moment, I believe they want to stay.”

The Blues appear unlikely to look at additional central midfield signings in January unless current members of the squad are moved on.

cant see this being true, we already have enough midfielders and if some were moved on it would be a more creative midfielder we looked at

Surely it's a no brainer, get Kevin Phillips. WE NEED A STRIKER THAT CAN SCORE GOALS.

Great Midfielder - IN HIS DAY!!!! again Zzzzz Zzzzz wake me up if anything interesting happens. Maybe a load of clubs will go into administration and we'll rocket up the table by default.

the last 2 games would suggest we are ok in the middle, and are able to create chances
all we need now is someone to stick the ball in the back of the net and yes KP would do this for fun (in his sleep) - however is this really a good move for the future?

btw - haven't we been having this 'need a proven goalscorer' conversation since back in the summer?

GRANT LEADBITTER IS KING.............One of the best all round players we have ever signed.......!

Work rate and ability was quality last night

All our strikers had an opportunity last night and they all screwed up. Lets be honest what difference does a run in the side make?? You can either hit the net or you cant, if your paid to score goals then thats what you do, too many excuses in my opinion.

STEAD IN THE PAPER THE OTHER WEEK - GIVING IT LARGE AFTER ONE GOAL, hardly prolific since, I really get tired of people who talk rubbish in the papers and produce nothing on the pitch.

The big thing with a player like we had with the quality of Gio is that everytime he had the ball the looked sure to do something special with it. We need that, we need a special player that can finish the games off.

On the whole our perfomance last night was decent, we definately look much better in defence and midfield now.

I would rather he went to County. I would enjoy seeing him play there, as he would be one of their better players, and I do get to see them a lot because of where I live. However, if he were to come to Town, I just don't think he would be appreciated in the same way.

Phillips might be worth a punt though!!!

With Birmingham set to spend millions in January and potentially push Phillips down the pecking order perhaps a loan until the end of the season would be good for everyone

Last nights performance emphasised once again that we are in need of a goalscorer.

Loan Danny Welbeck in Jan?

Or re sign Darren Ambrose..... he's already in double figures for the season
