Campo On Trial in Cyprus
Campo On Trial in Cyprus
Tuesday, 15th Dec 2009 13:23

Former Blue Ivan Campo is spending this week training with Cypriot side AEK Larnaca. The Spaniard has been without a club since being released by Town at the end of last season.

Campo, 35, is on trial and if he impresses could be offered an 18-month contract.

The central midfielder and defender made 16 starts and three sub appearances for the Blues last season, scoring one goal.

He played in the only two home games I got to see last year, and I thought he was by far the most talented player on display. Oozed athletic arrogance!
Toyed with his opponents, and sprayed the ball around like Beckham. Too bad he couldn't play like that every week!

he was tripe. Lazy and past it, couldn't of been happier that he moved on

Great headline! "Campo on trial in Cyprus" For a minute I thought he'd been caught drug smuggling or something!....

Wish him well though.

Bleedblue and ITFC1985.. Many of us like to see with interest what is going on with ex-players, if you don't, that's cool, but don't criticise just because its not for you.

I wish Campo well, but he was more interested in fine dining with Pablo than helping Ipswich town with the points when he was here...

Greektractor , Tripe !! .
I am sure Real Madrid and Spain agree .
The most skilful player we have had for years.
We were very lucky to have him . I remember watching him at training one day . He stayed behind and practised free kicks with some of our younger players for ages . He was suberb , he hit the crossbar (deliberately ) 8 out of 10 times.
He is slower than he used to be of course , surely its not his fault he is 35 . but he made up for his lack of pace with skill and positioning . His passing was Beckhamesque.
Hope he gets the contract he deserves.

I care. But then again, I support AEK Larnaca as well as Ipswich.

Played excellently in the last game I saw him (at Charlton) and some of his passing and skill was way above anyone else on the pitch, but also gave the ball away around the centre circle and exposed our defence to a breakaway. But glad he played for us, he was class.
