Murphy Up for Award Thursday, 17th Dec 2009 11:45 New Town keeper Brian Murphy is in the running for the Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Goalkeeper of the Year award for a third successive year. Murphy, who formally joins the Blues in January on a free transfer, impressed as he helped Bohemians to the League of Ireland title. Murphy is up against Chris O’Connor from Bray Wanderers and Darren Quigley, who spent the season on loan at Sporting Fingal from Derry City. The winner will be announced at the Aviva SWAI Annual Banquet in Dublin on Friday January 15th. Murphy joined up with Town last Tuesday, having given a lengthy interview with WRLFM in his home town of Waterford a few days beforehand. Meanwhile, Scunthorpe have covered the Glanford Park pitch ahead of Saturday’s game with Town. The surface is currently playable, however, frosts and temperatures of minus four or five are expected before the weekend.
