As the noughties come to a close, we thought it was time for TWTD users to name their Town Player of the Decade.

Which player contributed most to the club in the years 2000-2009? Add your nomination in the Comments section below saying why you feel they are worthy of the award and we'll subsequently run a poll on the site involving the most popular candidates.

Wilnis is the only one that stands out

following ericsankle, i'd nominate

Davis
Wilnis De Vos Naylor Hreidarsson
Magilton Holland Reuser
Stewart Bent Kuqi

I think most of these pick themselves, Reuser is probably the most contentious selection but I couldn't think of any stand-out midfielder candidates outside of Magic and Holland. Top 3 would be Wilnis, Magic, Bent.

For me HAS to be between Fab and Magilton both gave awesome service through BOTH the good and bad times. Followed then by De Vos, Holland, Bent, Stewart, Kelvin Davis, Kuqi, Herman and Clapham. My top 10 anyway.

True i did not read the article properly, if the question was who is the best player to play for us then in would be GIO, but in terms of hard work/loyalty and quality i think its probably Wilnis, bambam has to be close to, and also magilton.
Cant we also do a poll for best player of the 90's aswell...maybe didnt contribute the most but my fav....Tarricco

People saying Magilton seriously scare me. How can the slowest, most negatively passing pile of doggy-do be considered our player of the decade? It's embarrassing!

Marcus Stewart all the way.

Who made the biggest contribution over the last 10 years?

It cannot be anyone but Fabian.
Others made perhaps bigger contributions in a couple of seasons, but Fabian set high levels of performance over almost all of the seasons in consideration.

But lets also not forgot his contribution during his last season or so when, whilst out of the team he said that he had recognised his role at the club had changed and that he was therefore putting his efforts into passing on knowledge to the young players when he was in the reserves.

Hes given so much to the club over the last 10 years, there cant be anyone who can beat that.

Oh and our Player of the Year, to boot.

well if the question for the most given to the club over the period then it would be a toss up between fab and magilton( as a player) how ever if it wasnt for them two plus the great matty holland and the goals from stewart then we would have been in the mire in the prem in the first season there.

for me devos wouldnt even come close as the bloke could only header a ball and was poor on his ground work and couldnt tackle for nothing and then play out the ball.

but my heart says stewart because of his goals in the early part of the decade was vital to our promotion push playoff final and first year in the prem.

bent and kugi were close but they only sparked for that one season.

cud be de vos but he was terrible wen he 1st came, marcus stewrt perhaps, true goal scoring legend. perhaps not the mst skillful, exiting player but a fans favourite wh always going the crowd goin and tried his best. i ll always remember the raw f the crowd wen he ventured up front, great in the air and a football hard man, no one would out strengthen him, so for them reasons possibly BAMBAM, and if not 4 the reasons perhaps just coz he was so loyal, a true legend........., any1 agree??

I'd vote for Darren Bent, however would like like to see Jason De Vos and Fabian Wilnis in the nominees for their service to the club.

georges santos?
a combination of bent & kuqi was pretty awesome, bent clearly the better player, but good strike pairing, how about a whole team...

Magilton was a decent player (terrible manager mind!) He put in years of service as a player and deserves a mention, yet nowhere near the best for me.

It has to be Stewart - never been replaced. Bent is the closest we have come since. De Vos was under rated by many.

no way is marcus stewart a candidate he was here 200-2002..... 2/10 years 74 appearances 37 goals... 2 good seasons doesnt make you a player of the decade im affraid player of our last premier league era maybe.
and who ever it was who said pablo is clearly joking lol

Good question, heres my thoughts!

1. De Vos - a rock at the back, organised well and showed great leadership both on and off the pitch. Always gave his all.

2. Magilton - led from the front after Holland left, always remember the 'spark' he brought to the club when he arrived on loan ('Sheepshanks...sign him up..')and that hat-trick in the playoffs before slagging him for what came latter, seemed to have a huge influence both on and off pitch.

3. Fab - stayed loyal when others would have run away, always gave his all, that goal against Man U that let us all believe!

mentions for the boys of the late 90's, Holland, Stewart, Mogga, and for the likes of Bent, Kuqi. Not sure why Reuser is being mentioned, only ever played in one direction

Blueknight85 - how many fans would go to Portman Road now if it wasn't for that two year period? Stewarts et al. influence on the club can still be felt at the club today.

I'm not sure if he contributed the most, but I will certainly never forget the contribution to this fine club's history made by Mark Fish!
