Civelli Returns Home
Civelli Returns Home
Friday, 15th Jan 2010 10:43

Boss Roy Keane has revealed that Luciano Civelli is unlikely to play for Town this season and has returned home to Argentina to recover from the knee ligament injury.

Civelli was injured back in March in a game against Burnley and it was hoped that he would return this month, as Town boss Roy Keane explained to the club site: "Luca has gone back to Argentina for two months and I have written him off until pre-season.

"It has been tough for him. He's had a few setbacks and is making slow progress but he's had a serious injury.

"We had a chat last week and he asked if he could go home and I'm comfortable with that. For the foreign lads it can be better for them to be back home and our medical people will be in touch with him every week.

"He'll be using a clinic in Argentina and it will help him being home, not just physically but mentally as well."

I somehow think (but hope I'm wrong) he's already played his last game for us.

Sad about Luca. I do hope he comes back to play for us, he is a difference maker. In the mean time, Andrew Driver please.

Good Luck Luciano just hope that you are not another Le Pen as we need some flair on the left hand side. Could always sign Dyer as a stop gap (not sure how quick he would be on crutches)!

All this talk about Gio might as well stop as he is quite obviously not coming. Has anybody given any thought to the fact that it may well have been John Gormans Spurs connections that bought him here anyway! Having said that Harry has got a Tax bill to pay!!

Pity because we need flair and creativity on the left and from what he showed early on he looked to have the goods. I was really looking forward to seeing him return because he could have give the team a new dimension with his service from the left. It's a very serious injury. Fingers crossed he can come back next year and produce.

Shame, but a good decision from Keano.

It's strange... how some people really rate Luca and some think he's rubbish. Tbh from what I've seen, which isn't much considering he only played about 8 games for us he was a decent player but the best bit was a left foot! Hopefully he will come back and prove to everyone he deserves his place in the team and all this hype about him coming back was for a reason!
Good luck Luca all the best in your recovery!

Feel really sorry for the boy. He did contribute something to the side during his brief spell in the team last spring and he was just coming into his own both in terms of fitness and form. With a bit of luck, he could have had a couple of goals and I for one was looking forward to his return to the squad. Hope he can make a full recovery as his natural left foot brings balance - Be lucky Luca!

If it has not healed by now then sadly I agree with the comments here about not returning. Players with that type of injury rarely return for long.
Best wishes to him.
