Brentford Want to Keep Smith Wednesday, 27th Jan 2010 15:37 Brentford boss Andy Scott says he wants Town central defender Tommy Smith to stay at Griffin Park beyond the initial first month on loan. Smith’s spell is currently down to end after Brentford’s game at home to Gillingham a week on Saturday. Scott says Smith himself is keen to extend his stay with the League One club: "We spoke to Ipswich last week. Roy was very keen for Tommy to come here. He's done very well, and wants to stay. "It's up to Roy, and we're hopeful we can convince him it's the right thing for Tommy's development." Smith, who is looking to seal his place in New Zealand’s World Cup squad, has made three appearances for the Bees so far.
