Rosenior: Peterborough Defeat Was Embarrassing
Rosenior: Peterborough Defeat Was Embarrassing
Thursday, 18th Feb 2010 16:03

Full-back Liam Rosenior admits that Town’s defeat to table-propping Peterborough United was embarrassing. The loanee from Reading has also refuted suggestions that the players don’t care enough.

Rosenior said: “I got home around 2am after the Peterborough game and I couldn't sleep.

“I was analysing my performance and I know when I got in to training yesterday that other lads had done the same. Losing to the bottom team is nothing short of a disgrace. It is embarrassing.

“When I came here in August I was looking at automatic promotion or the play-offs. This looked a realistic target to me with what we had to offer. It's what a club like Ipswich should be looking for. Now we're in a fight for survival. And it's not right.”

Rosenior, who has been one of the Blues more impressive performers this season, says the players are not taking the situation lightly: “We do care. OK, the current loanees, including myself, might not be here next season.

“But we have our pride and I can assure everyone that we are doing our best every game, but we're coming up short.”

Peterborough boss Jim Gannon says that Town’s second half capitulation at London Road came as no shock to him: "If I'm being truthful, then yes, I could see it coming."

“Having seen the Ipswich game at QPR, Ipswich have been the worst performing second half team in matches. So I'm not surprised."

Striker Daryl Murphy says the team perhaps need to relax after going ahead: “We're doing well at the start of games, scoring early goals, but then we should be relaxing a bit and keeping the ball. It's happened in each of the three games I've played so far.

”We've looked comfortable and then in the second half looked a totally different team. I don't know whether it's concentration or what it is. We're just coming out for the second half and not starting at all.”

it was a bad second half, we might as well played with 10 men after pab came on cant remember him doing anything apart from losing the ball, but its not just his fault.

Got a mate who works at the Club and have been informed that Keane has fallen out with Martin, Counago, Stead and Leadbitter. he's got to leave, he's making us into a laughing stock. letting stead and Rhodes go is just ridiculous.....

Rosenior played well on Tuesday - I thought - and certainly didn't look as if he had thrown in the towel. He has been one of the few bright sparks of this season.

I can understand falling out with Martin, Counago and stead to be honest as they havent cut the mustard especially martin but Leadbitter??? he has been one of the few shining lights... Also if RK does go, and curbs is contemplating QPR then why not us???

nick8 - leadbitter and keane almost snogged when he sub'ed him tuesday.
think murphy might have a point rushing and panic when on the ball in second half like they didnt want to be the one that made the mistake to let posh back in the game, given their recent second half performances.

hype313 added 16:28 - Feb 18
Yeah i did bedsit, but they were playing in the premiership with cohesion, not struggling at the bottom of the championaship getting hammered against peterborough.

I hadn't heard about curbs and QPR that's bad for us they can offer him £50 million a week and are more his kind of club :(
as far as west hams crap football goes they do that under any manager from fear of the fans thinking its to pretty and beating them to a pulp

Bring in whoever you want. There won't be too many watching them regularly next season whatever happens. If we sell 10k season tickets next season I'm Margaret Thatchers lovechild!
This cr*p hasn't happened overnight and it's not just Keane's fault. Sheepsha**er and his cronies have to shoulder much of the blame. When we dropped humiliatingly of the Premier we were ruined and since then it's got worse, except for 1 1/2 seasons where Joe Royle (remember him?) nearly got us up.
No, the players we've bought in are not good enough, all other teams rejects.
All done on the cheap, all done with the old cronies at the helm.

Div 1 here we come. Where will the money be then? When Marcus has ditched his project?

Agree with Rosenior it was very embarrassing. Murphy has nothing to be ashamed about though - 100% goal scoring ratio.

Doubt there is anything at all in Roy falling out with Leadbitter - a good performer for us.

i also thought that Rosenior was one of the few who made an effort. At least he was prepared to atke the ball to Peterborough and have a go. It would be interesting to find out whether Rosenior would make a better right midfield than full back. He's got pace, not frieghtened to take players on and will shoot. David wright filled in at rb leaving pim at lb (for now)

8ashblue that could work with Walters upfront
or even keep wright at left back and give edwards a whirl in his old full back spot that would be almost comical

What is the fascination with curbishley on here?
He is a mediocre manager who got a mediocre club promoted and jumped ship when they had passed their sell by date. He then joined 'his' club West Ham and wasted shed loads of money on has beens, almost took them down and then had the audacity to sue them!!! Not for me thanks.
Mr Boring has stated that he should be managing in the Prem so if anyone is stupid enough to employ him there then let him crack on.
For what its worth I believe we will stick with Keano, he will keep us up and we will have a decent season next. People need to get real though, we have no divine right to promotion and the prima donnas that will no doubt join our playing staff. Give me successful footy at this level any day and if in the unlikely event we go down I will still be at most matches home and away next season.
Ipswich til I die ,Wherever Whatever.

Funny that Rosenior,

I remember on the night of the game, in the town fans seating area, two young fans (no more than 10 years old) asked you to sign their programmes. I was 10 ft away and you said to these two young lads that you had to go warm up but you'd be back straight after.

You walked straight past them on the way back towards the tunnel before the game, and ignored the kids completely, despite them trying to call you over.

You might care about winning a game of football, but you didn't seem to care about spending 20 seconds to sign some autographs for some young fans.

Rant over.

Rosenior is probably one of the only ones who put a decent shift in on Tuesday night. Keane should certainly be embarassed for his tactics and preparing the side and it is he who takes ultimate responsibility.

Having said that too many players tend to go missing and treat the ball like a grenade that has had its pin pulled.Walters comes in for a fair amount stick on here but it seems that our favourite tactic to resort to is to hoof it up him and then leave it to him to create something out of it. This is pointless unless someone goes to help him out.The attitude is "i have done my bit now its someone elses problem".Our shooting is terrible or non existent so is it unreasonable for this to be practised during the week, after all these people are supposed to be profesionals.

Now hands up who had heard of the Peterborough players who scored. That wont be many hands including mine. Our team is,mainly, composed of ex internationals or players who have played at Premier league level who should have more experience/ability but too often they go missing. Is it so difficult to concentrate for 95 minutes? Mind you if we get relegated they can go somewhere else in the inevitable relegation car boot sale and come out with the usual signing on platitudes, great club /history/fans ect. to their new club.

We need some leaders and players prepared to take responsibility and stick their necks out but then they didnt do that last season either. At the minute Keane is looking at the end of his managerial career because i cant think of any contempoary manager who has been so well supported by his chairman and his clubs fans. For the players it will be another place another payday. For Marcus Evans i have no idea what it means but it certainly wasnt in the script and i think that its fair to say that his sphincter muscle must be under a lot of stress, as is mine.

Fabian Wilnis once had the time to come from the other side of the pitch and buy a Lucozade off me when i was a tray-boy selling sweets etc. and signed autographs while he was at it.
To be fair Roy keane probably would have slapped him if he had been manager.

Just beat me to it "Mightytown".. my point exactly... he wants out. Thats why he came on loan, thats why he did not sign a deal in January.. he thinks he is a premiership player.. I'm not sure about that.

I love these people with exclusive bits of information......

My mate works at the club and he heard..............

Yeah we all believe that!!!

At the end of the day at Peterborough Tuesday all I heard was Keane songs and chants, so how many of these posters on here were at the game??

Did anyone hear Keane out?

Errrrrrrrrr Wait for the responses............

TheTruth talks sense.
Like LR I got home after midnight after the game, couldn't sleep, and was horrified with what I had seen.

The chants where all for RK, not one negative voice was heard.
