Murphy in Irish Squad
Murphy in Irish Squad
Friday, 26th Feb 2010 11:29

Keeper Brian Murphy has been belatedly called into the Republic of Ireland squad for their friendly against Brazil at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium next Tuesday. The 26-year-old was initially left out of the Irish party.

Murphy is yet to win a senior cap but was in the squad for the World Cup play-offs against France at the end of last year.

The glovesman is replacing Scunthorpe stopper Joe Murphy, who has a wrist injury presumably picked up trying to strangle Connor Wickham during the 1-1 draw at Glanford Park on Tuesday.

I'm assuming this means he can still play for us tomorrow? & then join up with the squad?

Not a keane fan but he seems to have got a good signing here, based on very little so far, admitedly. So, credit where credit is due.
