Norris: We're Moving in the Right Direction
Norris: We're Moving in the Right Direction
Monday, 12th Apr 2010 08:49

Midfielder David Norris insists that the Blues are heading in the right direction despite Saturday’s defeat at Nottingham Forest. The former Plymouth man felt Town performed better at the City Ground than they had during previous losses away from home.

Norris said: “Forest up there for a reason, and that showed [on Saturday]. They are where we want to be. Forest are one of the better teams, but there are better times ahead for us.

“It was a better defeat than when we lost to Watford and Plymouth. We were beaten by a good team, after giving a good account of ourselves for 45 minutes or so. Against Watford and Plymouth, we were terrible.

“We‘re on a decent run, and giving our fans hope for next season. We are heading in the right direction, so there is something to look forward to.”

Meanwhile, a newspaper in the North-East claims that Sunderland will target Connor Wickham in the summer, offering loanees Daryl Murphy and David Healy as part of a proposed deal. Given that Wickham signed a two-year professional deal committing himself to the Blues last week, the story appears to be total fantasy.

ello fans...top of the morning to ya! I enjoyed a wonderful day out at me old stomping ground at Forest on Saturday...I was disappointed wit the final score like, but very happy wit the lads for getting a few shots only a few yards of the bar.
It's time to go and take Triggs for his mid day walk now...now where did I put his pooper scooper?!

krusty, concentrate on your spelling and not your attempt at humour.

To all others on here ignore this guy from this point onwards.

We're moving in the right direction because our defeats are getting better?! We went down 3-0 to a team that should be one of our promotion rivals. Last year we finished about 10 places higher than Forest, so the fact they are so far ahead of us surely indicates the opposite of progress?

As for Wickham, I really hope we do not try to cash in on him. I know Keane only has a year left on his contract and so may not be inclined to take a long term view for the good of the club, but after losing Rhodes it would be horrible to see Wickham leave. As for the players mentioned, D.Murphy did brilliantly to start with but has faded and D.Healy has done nothing. We still need a goalscorer with some pace.

lol i think they'd have to come up with an offer a lot better than those two old boys. not that murphy hasnt been quality but they'll both retire in a few years but connors got a good 15 years in him! stupid story really, bet it was the sun as well! bring on the next one! :-P

Good call Mark. Spot on!!

Notts Forest is an example of what a good manager can achieve in a short space of time, as opposed to a mediocre manager in a long space of time.

Really RobbieScarlatti? Then why has the manager of Nottingham Forest had longer in the job (at Forest) and spent a load more money than RK? Think you should check your facts for a change.....

Tractorog added 12:59 - Apr 12
Personally, I'd swap Murphy a mid career proven goal scorer for Connor an unproven potential.

RobbieScarlatti added 13:15 - Apr 12
Has he actually spent more money than Roy? Even if he has Roy will surpass that soon enough at this rate.

And at the point at which Billy Davies' tenure was the same as Roy's is now, where were they in the table? They sure as sh*t weren't 13th.

The point is that Billy Davies spending and management has paid dividends. They have rocketed. Keane has sent us backwards. Thems the facts.

Dress it up as you want mate. Its a poor return.

On that newspaper story linking Wickham with a deal involving Healy and Murphy. I am in the north east and I haven't seen that. Anyone know where that story originated. Keane is certainly not that mad is he ?? Sunderland need to get Wickham, give you Murphy in excange. Healy is free and we also need to pay Ipswich 5m on top of that. Story has to be nonsense !!!!

What direction is that ?
We performed better and only lost 3-0
What benchmark does he have !!!
WE HAVE GONE BACKWARDS UNDER KEANE -
he will not leave and I doubt he will be fired so I hope that we can bring someone in who can show him how to MANAGE a team
Not the underlings he has now
Bring in a real coach

hi there...im new on this site....only support ipswich because roy keane is their manager.....i have followed the career of keane since he made his debut for forest all those years ago and on to man utd.....i am irish aswell and have great interest in football....the saipan incident involved 2 people, not just keane ! if you were called a liar in work in front of your workmates..what would you do ?
keane is no saint i admit that but he loves to win so much and will not settle for second best....he is trying to instill that into the ipswich players....i know owen garvan is a favourite of the fans but he is a lazy b.....d ! keane wont except that.....people say on here that keane spent 30 m in sunderland....true...but sunderland got that back and more with promotion....give the guy a chance....keane will deliver promotion...i have no doubt of that. players will come and go...thats football...some good buys some bad...ask rafa ! all i will say to the knockers is ` give keane a chance ` ..alex ferguson was 1 game from getting the sack...the rest is history.....ferguson dad 3 seasons before he began to turn things round....up the tractor boys ! and keano !
